Raymond Is Back

Sitcom alum Ray Romano is teaming up with one of his writer/producer buddies from Everybody Loves Raymond, Mike Royce, on a new comedy for TNT.
The new comedy is called Men of a Certain Age and will make its debut sometime in 2009.
Men will revolve around three dudes in their 40s, friends since college, who now find themselves going through midlife crises of various sorts. A suit at Turner says the show will highlight "the highs and lows of being a guy in the modern era."
Sounds like a Sex and the City suburban dad style.

Not a big fan of Ray Romano's, but it does sound like a good idea… there aren't too many shows with the lead characters all men in their 40's.
And if they can portray what men ACTUALLY go through at that age, and not "stereo-type" it, then I believe it may be a success.

Ray has always been somewhat funny, but the success of his other show wouldnt have been possible w/o patricia heaton and the mother. I just dont forsee his comedy w/o female characters being that funny.
Ramano is a funny guy. Would watch it if he'd have pitched it to a different network, I'm not one for watching TNT however.

I love Ray Romano. We actually went to one of his shows and it was very funny. We even got to go back stage and met him and even had a couple cocktails with him. He took out his wallet and showed us pictures of his kids and wife. Very nice and down to earth guy!

Sounds a lot like a UK series called Manchild, which was very good. It starred Anthony Head of Buffy fame.

HEY! I was at that premiere of The Grand in the background! He was fucking funny in that movie. But I didn't like Everybody Loves Raymond.

Hmmm, there was a tv show airing in Quebec a few years ago with the exact same storyline: "Hommes en quarantaine" (Men in their forties). It was okay though.

Did you even see the documentary about his comedy tour on HBO awhile back? Made him look like the most selfish, potty-mouthed, irritatingly mooching, loser male friend anyone ever had to put up with! Like the guy who always says, "Are you gonna eat that?" - and then finishes YOUR DINNER when he just ordered a drink. YUCK. Ray Romano is NOT a nice guy

BRAVO TO RAY HE IS A SMART GENIOUS- Sex and the City a phenominal show is a show with woman of a certain age talking honestly about the oppisite sex in a comic but real way and for years no one thought hey all u dudes that wanna drink a beer and watch something funny like King of Queens these guys have something that they can watch and I think it is something only Ray could pull off and I think hes gonna ROCK!!! Its gonna get a following and maybe not sex and city following bc its not HBO but a good network one! Ray wouldnt ruin his reputation without any idea it would definitely be successful and he stopped Raymond at a point where he humbly said" no you you know a media spokesman said "Ray Ramano says he would like the leave the viewers wanting more. First of all before I really watched Everyone Loves Raymond I hated it…like one of those shows where your bored and its the only thing on tv …. and since you dont know his character it could come off like he unsuccessful comedian but the thing about the show is to really get the humor, because the humor on this show is so clever and so character based and just a suttle look from Robert when you know hes jealous real fans laugh bc you really know HOW WEIRDLY jealous this guys is so anways, you have to have a following and the following tends to I find be women and they get their boyfriends and husbands hooked b/c its so REAL its funny -
