Here come all the sympathy votes!
American Idol contestant David Cook was rushed to the emergency room following the taping of Tuesday night's show.
What happened????
Cook's heart was palpitating at a high rate and his blood pressure was high as well.
Producers were said to want him to go to the hospital before the show ended, but David wanted to stay until it was over.
This all sounds like a publicity stunt to us!
Update: He's been treated (meds to bring down his high blood pressure) and released from the hospital already!
Cook is expected to have a checkup again in a few days.

You should check the facts before posting negative comments…..David is over-stressed because his brother is battling cancer.
brother has cancer, the stress got to david…cut him a break. if he wanted the sympathy vote, this would've been announced AT the performance. NOT AFTER.

This is not a publicity stunt. His brother has cancer and suffered a setback, so he has been very stressed lately. I saw this on TV here in STL this morning. if anybody has dealt with cancer in the family then you know exacty what he's feeling.

If your brother had cancer, Perez, we would be told to pray. You were very inappropriate with your remarks. David has never let on that anything was wrong in his family. My son had leukemia and survived, my husband died of cancer. Please don't go there with me.
I hope he gets better…..he's one of the best contestants on the show and i think he deserves this win..

Well, with his performance this week, he doesn't need additional sympathy votes to cruise to next week, unlike certain contestants.
His brother has cancer @ he took a turn for the worse a few days ago. David also already has problems with high blood presure. I would imagine being away from his brother @ family at a time like this, plus, having to stand in front of millions of people and act like nothings wrong….. Ummmm.. I think that would stress out any normal human being! Anyway, why would David NEED a publicity stunt!!
He looked a heck of a lot better on the show last night now that he's wearing that toupee/wig/hairweave or whatever it is. Now maybe people will stop making fun of his hair so much and maybe that will eliminate a bit of his stress.

David Cook is an awesome dude and talented musician who writes his own music. Go check out his amazing solo CD pre-idol. It was holding firm at the #5 most downloaded. Perez, I love you but feel you were uncalled for in announcing David's hospitalization as a "publicity stunt." As I'm sure you've seen, based on the other comments, his brother has cancer and David is rightly stressed and upset. I doubt David sees this as a publicity stunt to get votes; he probably wishes it wasn't true and wishes his personal life wasn't a part of the show. Please show some compassion.

I had this happen to me once, for absolutely no reason. If you've never experienced it, it's the scariest thing… you think you're dying, it feels like a heart attack. I was hospitalized for 5 days after my episode, and I had gotten my heart rate under control before they even put me in the ambulance.
Tachycardia arrhythmia is what I had. Stress related.
Perez, you need to ease up a bit. Stress can do this to anyone and David did look a little unwell yesterday, something was bugging him for sure. Please give the guy the benefit of the doubt unless you prove otherwise. Go back to celeb bashing pls!!
