Sacha Baron Cohen is one lucky guy.

A judge has just tossed out a defamation lawsuit by Jeffrey Lemerond, who appeared in the 2006 film Borat, being chased down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

Lemerond, a financial analyst, was suing for unspecified damages.

In the movie, Lemerond is shown as he runs away from Borat, who portrays a fake Kazakhstan journalist who's trying to hug strangers, and yells for Borat to "Go away!"

The Federal judge, Loretta Preska, concluded that although the movie had somewhat of a childish humor and was a bit vulgar, it also attempts an ironic commentary and is newsworthy.

Sacha is a free man. For now.

      I would think one embroiled in so many legal actions would understand the difference between CRIMINAL and CIVIL law — there is no such thing as "not guilty" in a defamation suit. He is not liable for damages to the other party. Only criminal actions, in which the government charges someone with the violation of a statute, can end in a finding of "not guilty." The fact that none of your other readers have pointed this out shows how many morons visit this site. Me included!

      Perez—this is a defamation suit. Of course Baron is "Not Guilty." Even if the jury found he had defamed, the proper term is "liable". This is not a criminal case..there is no criminal penalty or jail time for defamation….

      It is a CIVIL TRIAL!!!!! There is NOOOOOO such thing as a Not Guilty charge in a civil trial and even if he was found liable he WOULD NOT go to jail. So your comment of "he's free for now" is a moronic statement.
