A Career Resurrection???

Is it cool to like him again???

On Tuesday night, Tom cruise attended an industry screening of Tropic Thunder from Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks.

In the film, he portrays a “bald, hairy-chested, foulmouthed, dirty-dancing movie mogul of the kind who is only too happy to throw an actor to the wolves when his popularity cools.”

He may have a little experience with that! Wink wink.

In a self-referential move, Cruise was mocking his 2006 dismissal by Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone from his Paramount production deal.

Tommy Boy's role was very well received at the screening. And the irony of him now being in a Paramount film was not lost on the audience.

Cruise needs for this to be a hit.

It's an uncredited cameo appearance in heavy prosthetics. He doesn't need this move it to be a hit. Even if it was, it could barely be credited to him. Tom Cruise did not produce or have anything to do with the financing of this film. He probably didn't even get paid all that much (relatively speaking). For someone who lives in Hollywood and has a line of work that orbits the movie business, Perez's actually knowledge of anything above gossipy teenage girl bullshit is suprisingly lacking. Don't you have a TV show? Besides knowing catchy industry phrases like "open a movie" have you ever actually paid attention to anything besides what celebrities do to their hair?

He made 3 big mistakes first(and the biggest) when he fired his amazing publicist Pat Kingsley, second the Oprah appearances she destroyed his career because she is very powerful,third the overexposure with Katie Holmes and the Scientology blah blah(results of the fact he hired his dumb sister as a publicist).

I went to a different screening of this hosted by Ben Stiller. I had ZERO expectations and am as freaked out by TomKat as everyone else. That said, Tom Cruise was THE BEST part of that movie. Seriously. So funny. There is a scene where he is dancing that is hysterical. I left the film looking at him in a new way…so close to forgetting about Xenu. He was good. Really good.
