Why do they have to take such close-ups of older people? Everyone over a certain age has sun damage, wrinkles and flaws. Plus the teeth start to look a bit worn and discolored. I think the photos are taken deliberately so they can be posted online on sites like this and ridiculed by the younger people who will eventually be in the same boat themselves some day.

Why would you make fun of him. It is one thing to make fun of Rumor Willis because she thinks she is the shit & she ain't but Dick Van Patten is just a good old guy. That thing on the side of his face may be the result of skin cancer. I see him at the Del Mar Race Track every season. He is always chatting it up with Dick Enberg & sees like a really nice man. He also has a really good looking family. I have seen him on more than one occasion with a group of gorgeous blondes. If you want to be mean, Perez you are disgusting looking. You have a pig nose & there is no way you will ever be in good shape. Even if you lose weight your body will be gross from the years of over eating & lack of exercise. I applaud you for your health kick. However, people with good bodies have taken care of themselves by eating right or working out regularly or both their entire life. Your body doesn't forget & you can't get back what you haven't worked at for 30 yrs.

I also wanted to mention that his face has been like that for a while. At least the last 5 or so years I remember the scabs & flaking when seeing him at the races. He definetly has had bouts of skin cancer. I don't understand how you can make fun of that instead of being sympathetic. Every time I take someone to the races that hasn't seen him there they get really excited about seeing the guy from 8 is Enough. I've never heard anyone make fun of him. He's always smiling & having fun. I was a little pissed that his dog food was recalled during the melamine scare last year as I was feading my dogs his food. However, his company recently invested millions in purchasing machinery that gives the make up of the food before it is packaged to ensure its safety. I don't feed my dogs it anymore but it is one of the healthiest foods you can feed your pet. Dumb ASS Perez could have said something nice about the guy & gotten free dog food for Teddy, probably for life.

As people age their skin becomes thinner, and prone to cuts. For some reason their scabs look like really dark blood rather than the normal brown.
