Madonna's hometown wants her back. They're even going through Poppa Ciccone to get her.
Mayor Charles M. Brunner of Bay City, Michigan, is offering her Madjesty a key to the city, where her father still lives, including her 96 year old grandmother, and other family members.
And included in the festivities, there are plans to recruit local musicians to cover some of her largest hits, and there's even talks about commissioning an artist to make a sculpture of her.
Mayor Brunner has emailed Poppa Ciccone, and is awaiting a response.
But will Madonna accept an offer from a city that's rejected her so many times?????
Back in 1985, then Mayor Timothy G. Sullivan refused to give her a key since she was considered a bit too "risque for such an honor."
Also in the late '80s, city officials refused to accept an Italian sculpture of Madonna, since they believed she would lose her popularity over time.
Someone was wrong!!!!!
City Commissioner Christopher J. Shannon said "Far and wide, she wields significant influence in the arts and entertainment world. For Bay City to turn its back on that, it would be a shame."

This was just announced on the news last night, here locally. I was born and raised in Bay City, and I've adored Madonna my whole life. If she does come to Bay City, I'm definitely going there to see her.
Also, please note, that back in the 80s, when she was going to be presented the keys to the city, she said no, and that "Bay City sticks". And that is what dropped it all together. Bay City does stick… unfortunately - literally because of the sugar beat factories - sticks horribly in the fall!

As someone who lives in Traverse City…I can assure you that Mr. Ciccone (as well as several of Madonna's siblings) live here, not in Bay City. Bay City is about 2 hours south but TC probably isn't going to be jumping on the "keys to the city" honor anytime soon. We've got Michael Moore and Mario Batali who have homes up here too. Madonna never visits TC or Bay City when she comes on tour here anyway…why bother?

Bay City is trash. I went to the same grade school as her, her high school is a couple minutes away and her dad was a greeter at my church. Her hometown is Rochester/Rochester Hills and if she should get a key/statue it should be from there.
