Going To Jail! It's About Time!!!

Filed under: Anglophilia > Pete Doherty > Legal Matters

petedoherty.jpg

Drug-addled rocker Pete Doherty is going to jail for 14 weeks for breaking his probation order.

Doing drugs is against the law, crackhead. Breaking the law is against your probation terms!

We can't believe the Brits didn't lock him up earlier! They've given Doperty way too many chances.

According to reports, Petey was taken to lock down from West London Magistrates' Court following a 30 minute hearing Tuesday afternoon.

If you have tickets to his April 26th London show, don't worry. His record company said the show will be rescheduled and all tickets will be valid for the new date once it has been announced.

But anybody who buys tickets to see Pete Doherty in concert knows damn well to expect him to NOT show up!

Is 14 weeks enough time for Doperty in jail, though????

he has been clean from drugs for several months. the times he took drugs were October of 2007. he has a drug problem. he is being jailed for not turning up to one of his meetings and being late for another. jail is NOT the best place for him as prisons are riddled with drugs only to tempt him even more. you probably shouldn't write articles on people you have no knowledge of. he is a good man.

  21. Christine says – reply to this

    21

Yes, because jail is a wonderful place to help someone overcome the disease of drug addiction… Jailing addicts serves no purpose - if someone's hooked on drugs, they'll still get drugs in jail - and then when they get out, not only do they still have their addiction, but they have the stigma of having been in prison. Given, having a prison record seems to be the "in" thing among Hollywood dumbasses today… but as a general policy, it just doesn't make sense. Mandatory rehab, sure. Jail? That's just a waste of taxpayer money.

He'll have a great time, I'm sure. Then we'll all have to put up with his poetry and music about stinky cell mates and taking it up the shitter for smack.

    25

No, it's not enough time for him to go to Jail - why should get special treatment, the only reason he is famous because he is a loser junkie that dated Kate Moss.

  26. Whatever says – reply to this

    26

yeah he's a stupid loser we know, Stop ragging on the brits you fat cunt i noticed how you ass kissed us before you came over here and now you know you aint coming for a while you just slip a little insult in here and there. CAN I JUST POINT OUT, PETE DOHERTY HAS BEEN IN PRISON BEFORE (PENTONVILLE - WHERE BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL CURRENTLY RESIDES), SO ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO SAY JAIL WILL FIX HIM ARE OBVIOUSLY SORELY MISTAKEN.

  33. aquaboogie says – reply to this

  35. mid says – reply to this

Jail won't cure him of his addictions. Jail isn't the answer for addictions. Only the person can battle addictions–no externals will. He'll be able to get all the smack he wants in jail.

  36. LookATYou says – reply to this

    36

Amy Crackhouse should be in jail along side him, but it might be a blessing for them because drugs are rampant in jail according to reports about Blake Fielder-Civil.

    46

Dont blame us brits for him not being in jail sooner, if it was up to the british public he would have been sent to jail after his first offence. He sickens me, hes been given more than enough chances to sort himself out and he still chooses to be a junkie waster. Not only that hes been herald as the saviour of indie music, his music is just tuneless bull shit.

    55

I think there might be some culture clash here. In some U.S. prisons they have drug rehab in prison, which is why I think some people think jail will do Doherty good. Robert Downey Jr. got clean several years ago while he was in jail. Perhaps these recovery programs are not available English jails? Also it sounds like drugs are easier to get in jail over there?

I think most people would like to see him get help in any way possible. Some people are just under the impression that jail would help him get clean.

and he shouldnt go to jail!!!

  60. kasta says – reply to this

    60

According to the way sentencing works here, he will spend less than 7 weeks in prison. On top of that, as the sentence in less than 52 weeks, he will leave prison without having to comply with any Probation orders as they are nullified once sentenced.

Frankly, he got off lightly. Most people in his situation would have already been sent to prison for violating their probation order and repeatedly breaking the law. I work for the Substance Misuse Team at a Probation Office in the UK… I've seen people with Class A addictions go to prison for a lot less.

And the reason for the resentencing is not down to drug use, but failure to comply with the requirements of his probation order. Rehab does not cure someone wilfully ignoring court orders.

  61. chris says – reply to this

    61

pete should be in jail for WAY longer, but then agen the jails here in the UK are all full and have been now for about 2 years?? something like that neway. and the stopid governement would rather spened moeny on paying the mortgages of all the MP's and the prime minister than building anymore!! and nobody here (not even rapists and murders) serve their full sentence so he wil be out in like way less time neway.

  71. Jakobi says – reply to this

14 weeks is more than enough.

Ian Brown was totally changed after he spent time in prison, and that was just a month or something. Doherty will either come out of this a new man, or he won't come out at all.

    Whyyy.
and why do you hate on him so much?
    He's brilliant.

  73. Judy says – reply to this

    73

First of all, Im totally against drugs.

But I am a huge fan of Petes music. And I think, going to jail will probably the best for him, lets hope it will help him.

But what I dont understand is, that Kate Moss didnt get any time in jail at all after that coke-scandal! That bitch has a little daughter she is responsable for!!! She has always been poooooor Kate, and Pete has always been the bad one in that whole thing. I doubt that he forced her to do drugs, plus, she's been doing drugs throughout her entire model career. So get over it and leave Pete alone!

  74. emma says – reply to this
