A Naked Daniel Radcliffe Coming To Broadway

It's confirmed!

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe received great reviews during his eight week performance in Equus last year in London.

Now, Radcliffe is crossing the pond and into bigger territory. Broadway!

Radcliffe is set to make his Broadway debut performing in Equus later this year.

This will be the play's first revival on Broadway since it debuted in 1974 and continued for three years. In 1975, it won the Tony Award for best play. This time around, the show will have a strictly limited 22 week run.

So get your tickets now, bbs!

When asked his thoughts about performing on Broadway, Radcliffe responded, "It will be amazing, but I will be terrified because I was talking to Richard Griffiths about playing New York and he said the most stupid thing you can do is underestimate New York audiences. I would be very nervous because I think (the audiences are) even more discerning than in London."

Equus will begin previews on September 5, 2008 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

    I remember when "Equus" ran on B'way in the '70s. The fact that it hasn't been revived since then says something.

    I saw Daniel in Equus last spring. He is fit, but he's still unfortunatley short. But some men get growth spurts into their early twenties, so fingers crossed for that. The play is interesting but not spectacular. I'm sure the content was a lot more sensational back in the 70s. Now it's a bit predictable. I felt like Daniel was overacting a bit. He's playing a crazy person, but still it felt like he was trying too hard to prove that he was mental. I would go see this play again with Alfie Allen as the lead to see how a different actor interpreted the role. Seeing it once with Daniel was enough. Hopefully he will have refined the character some by the time he hits Broadway.

    Also, Daniel was only 17 when I saw his bits and pieces. I know that's legally an adult in the UK, but I still felt a bit pervy since you can't be nude in the States until you're 18.

    Maybe this time someone will actually be able to take REAL pictures of what Daniel looks like named. Those other pictures are freaking photoshopped pictures from a male model's lower limbs plastered onto Daniel's top half. All camera and video-taking devices were confiscated at the doors in England, so that's why pictures from there are fake other than the approved publicity shots. Go naked Daniel, go! :P

    Watched him in December Boys with subtitles. Much better that way, since the dialog can be understood. Otherwise it is too accented to make out. He did a pretty good job. Not great, but quite okay. If the movie had been shown with subtitles it would have done better at the box office, no doubt.
