It's unfortunate but true-the government will do awful things like jail people for being homosexual. But Muslim culture is so conservative, and their laws are as religious are they are political. I have an Egyptian friend who's clearly gay, but he doesn't understand that he is - I don't think he really even truly understands that homosexuality exists or what it is/entails. I feel bad for him - he knows he doesn't fit in but he doesn't know why. The government was in the wrong, but the people on the street might not even get it. Kudos to those guys for even being aware of their sexuality.
But don't boycott Egypt, Perez!

Hey Perez, i myself am an Egyptian and i currently live in Canada…and i just want 2 say it is a matter of right and wrong, they r humans as well…but then again its not accepted in Africa or in the Middle East…they r conservative in a way… "When in Rome do as the Romans" so i guess u gotta respect a country's laws when u r there…

First of all, I completely agree with you Perez. In this day and age where it should be that the world is moving towards a more accepting mindset, there are still extremely barbaric practices happening, including in Egypt.
Secondly, even though your video was meant to send a serious message, I could not help but laugh at your random "Fuck Yous". It was great.
As a sidebar, it reminds me of what Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Prez. of Iran) said in September about there being no homosexuals in Iran, which is a total lie (especially since a citizen said on camera that he was a gay man and he knew of so many others). It is a disgusting trend that these countries continue to persecute people who are only living their lives as they wish (and not even hurting anybody).

I also think the amount of rhetoric used in your video is not gonna help people over there, who do not have the liberal way of thinking nor the proper media to grasp an idea as to why persecuting ANY human being for ANY REASON is wrong.

I can't believe that Egypt is doing this to its own people. I agree, this is 2008 and everywhere in the world should be open to new things. We have to be openminded in this world. It saddens me to know that these men are being put in jail just because they love differently. We are taught to love one another, but I guess to be in love with someone of the same sex should be punishable.
