Oprah's Next Golden Child
We've got another Dr. Phil on our hands!
According to new reports, Oprah Winfrey is giving show regular Dr. Mehmet Oz his very own show!
Thanks largely in part to his appearances on the Opes' show, Dr. Oz has been dubbed "America's Doctor".
The doc has an impressive resume. He's currently serving as the vice chair and professor of surgery at Columbia University and director of the Cardiovascular Institute at New York Presbyterian Hospital and co-wrote the bestselling books, You: An Owner's Manual, You: On a Diet and You: Staying Strong.
Word of the new show is hardly shocking news, as Dr. Oz has long been seemingly groomed by Oprah to go out on his own.
Last year, in a highly touted Oprah Winfrey Show 'first', O handed over the talk-show reins to the doc, leaving him to host an episode on his own with an audience full of men asking their most TV-appropriate-embarrassing medical questions.
Dr.Oz's show is scheduled to hit the airwaves in the Fall of 2009.
We already like Dr. Oz more than any of the other people Oprah has championed, like this freaky lady!

Oprah has become an arrogant grandstander
Dr. Mehmet Oz performed open heart surgery on my grandfather in 2003. Now my grandfather has neuropathy in his left leg. This means he falls constantly and has no control over the sensations or use of his leg. It was concluded it was due to the open heart surgery.
I stopped watching her once she used the power America gave her for a political agenda, you can't pretend for 25 years that you would not shove your politics in your audiences face and then after gaining peoples trust you abuse it with pushing Obama on that same audience.

99% of the people Oprah pushes on us seem like charlatans to me but Dr. Oz is great and the more exposure he gets, the better the world will be. Seriously, he actually knows what he's talking about and is giving out important info for people that can improve or save lives. Awesome. Now take off Dr. Phil and Ray Ray, get rid of Obama and that pompous self-centered Eat Pray Love bitch, and the whole bunch of Scientology freaks that circle Oprah like vultures trying to convert her and Oprah will be helping the world.

Dr. Oz's kids go to my alma mater (high school) and he is one of the nicest and smartest men you will ever come across. I hope his show is a success but doesn't become Dr. Phil

If this is the Discovery guy who had a short lived pod cast, then RIGHT ON! I was mesmerized by what he had to say about theanine and some other things. It would be great to see him talk at length.
UGH! I agree with the rest of you that said this guy is annoying! Sure he might know his stuff, but what good is that if you have an awkward way about you? He's so geeky and not exactly eloquent. I can't stand watching him. But I guess everyone hated Dr. Phil too, and now look at him.

I KNEW this was going to happen when she kept having him on the show. I said this last year that he was the next Oprah Project. I can't stand his mouth and the way that he wears scrubs constantly, like he's just been called out of surgery to do the show. I think he thinks this gives him more "street cred", "Look at me, I've got scrubs on so I MUST be a doctor!" I don't trust men that wear clogs either, I think they are tacky and very unprofessional, I'm surprised no paper booties??? His "wealth" of information isn't anything anyone can't find with a little bit of time spent searching the internet.

The only show worth a damn that's developed out of Oprah's bag of guru guests has been Dr. Phil (imo) He keeps it real in my book and at least tries to help people. RR makes me sick! Gayle, she's just surfing on her friends' coat tails-which is no biggie, girls' gotta make a livin somehow and Nate, well he's just a cutie and HGTV or TLC would have snapped him up anyway in due time. unless you hold a medical degree, you are not competent or entitled to make any comments about the professional performance of Dr.Oz. of course, you CAN, to the extent of your ignorance and lack of logic- but I wonder if you even know how to give first aid in emergency situations, really??
Last but not least, stop making up stories about things you don't know a shit about.
1) Every surgery runs well calculated risks of complications about which patients are informed beforehand. if you're so into questioning the success of Mehmet Oz, why not going through PUBLIC records his hospital would publish every year, like it does for every medical staff it employs (imbecile americans don't even know that such records exist and are 100% public- if not accessible upon simple request without any questioning)
2) You owe those over-the-counter medicine you abuse everyday to thousands of kitties, puppies, bunnies and hamsters used in experiments. Same goes for cancer treatment,heart pills etc. So unless you are a vegan singing kumbaya in circles and treating your sour ass with poison ivy SHUT THE FUCK UP.
