We reported last week that some naughty lamb leaked Mariah Carey's ENTIRE new album on to the internet.
Well, a new report claims that the leak might have come from the Ashlee Simpson camp!
Ass and Mimi have albums dropping a week apart. It's a no brainer who will win in that head-to-head match up.
Would Poppa Joe really throw down in this way?
Simpson's album was supposed to come out last year, but it was pushed back (more than once).
A source told MSNBC, "Joe Simpson has every right to be nervous about Ashlee going up against Mariah. They are backed into a corner with this release date since they already changed it once. Their only option in fighting the Mariah machine would be to create a way to make the album's release less newsworthy."

There's no way Ashlee's camp could have done that unless they are reallllllllly chummy with the press or physically stole a copy of the album and planted it in all the right places.

I doubt the leak will hurt sales for Mariah — if anything, the leak will probably INCREASE sales.
As far as Ashley's album is concerned, it wouldn't matter whether it was leaked or not. Nobody is going to buy it.

Mariah's album leaked 1 week before it's release. That's considered a SUCCESS for preventing a leak these days. Most albums leak at least 2 weeks before they hit stores.

Almost every album leaks at least a week before it's released. It's not surprise that Mariah's did as well. It won't really effect her sales because true fans will still buy the album when it's released. Plus.. Asslee is no competition for her anyways. "E=MC2" might be an even bigger chart-topping monster. A few weeks ago, I told you I’d heard some tracks, but now the album is done and sequenced. There are songs on it. Remember songs? You will be in love with "Side Effects," one of several real R&B tracks with a gorgeous vocal, a cool rap by Young Jeezy and lyrics that should make Mariah’s ex, Tommy Mottola, do a spit-take. In the song, Carey sings about "waking up scared some nights, still dreaming about the violent times." Is it about Mottola? The lyrics begin: "I was a girl/You were ‘the man’/I was too young to understand/I was naïve/Believing everything you told me." And apparently she’s still living with "side effects" from "the private hell we built" — "sleeping with the enemy/aware that he was smothering every last part of me."
ALBUM REVIEW CONTINUED:She even addresses Mottola directly: "Said you were strong/protecting me/then I found out that you were weak/keeping me there under your thumb." Another track, "Bye Bye" is almost a sequel to Carey’s long-ago hit with Boyz II Men, "One Sweet Day." The almost certain No. 1, I think, to extend Carey’s long string: "I’ll Be Lovin’ U A Long Time," in which her production team marries a sample from DeBarge with the hook from "Hill Street Blues" and adds just enough of a new twist to create the most elusive thing of all: a radio smash. "OOC (Out of Control)" is set to shake up dance clubs.
