DMX Causes Riots!

Times must be tough for DMX.
The rapper has hit the college campus tour!
On Wednesday night, DMX performed at Indiana University. The tickets were purchased for $25 through Lambda Chi Alpha.
Damn, $25? DMX is cheap….but not as cheap as Avril!
The concert was set to begin at 8:30pm, however, it didn't start until an hour later because of DMX's late arrival.
What a divo!
Unfortunately for concert goers, the concert was closed down after just three songs.
Lambda Chi Alpha had confirmed to the University that the concert music and noise would be over at 9:30pm (giving the audience an hour worth of music). When the music was heard past 9:30pm, police officers arrived to shut the concert down.
DMX was removed from the stage and State and Bloomington Police officers were called in when the crowd started to yell profanities. Crowd members continued to protest the concert's end. That's when things turned bad. Real bad. And rowdy!
Students in the front row of the concert were MACED!!!
Most students then rushed into Third Street, which had been temporarily closed.
Reports were then surfacing that some students rushed the stage, while other witnesses claim no one approached the stage.
IU student, Lauren Smith, claims the students "started throwing things at the police. It got pretty ugly and we thought people would start getting arrested. I never saw people on the stage. They threw trash, but that was about it.”
Sucks for the people that got maced. All to see DMX.

A rep for DMX tells us….
"Regarding the events that took place at the Indiana University DMX Children Uniting Nations concert last night, DMX was not the instigator nor is he to blame for the concert ending early. The Bloomfield police cut his show short due to the agreement that Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity had with the University that the concert would stop at 9:30PM because of a noise ordinance law. DMX, management and the promoter were not aware of this law. DMX feels its unfortunate that he could not fully perform for this charity show and he hopes to return to Indiana University in the future for another show."

That's Indiana's fault, not DMX's. Why would you only allow for one hour? And not only an hour of performance, but a strict one hour block? You gotta know performers are gonna be late. Bad, bad planning.
I got to IU and I was watching his show from the street. I saw everything go down, and it wasn't a "riot" per se, but there were tons of riled up kids around and if the cops hadn't arrived when they did, it could have turned ugly.
If anything, though, the cop who maced the crowd DEFINITELY overreacted. Totally uncalled for.
I can't lie though, it was a pretty awesome spectacle to watch.
We even made a Facebook group for it called "I Got Maced at DMX". We got tons of pictures from the show, including ones of DMX chugging his jug of Hennessey that he was going to give to the crowd to "Sip, Sip, Pass".
Crazy.
I thought he was in jail?
It would be worth it. If it were still 1999. He is done.

But I know I want to see Bon Jovi in concert but can't because the ticket price is high and with gas and food expenses these days my personal ent. expenses are next to nothing. OH, and just to put some perspective on why he was even here…
It's Little 500 week here, which is touted as the "The World's Greatest College Weekend". The whole week leading up to it is basically a party week and most frats kind of compete to bring in the biggest artists. For example, Feist is playing tomorrow, Yung Joc is, too, and while the DMX show was getting shut down, the Ying Yang Twins were performing across campus.
So yeah, cops are in full force during this week, and it's just kind of…crazy.
I go to IU and let me tell you… the whole front row was maced! Shit was getting rowdy down on 3rd street
I go to IU and there was a Ying Yang Twins concert on campus at the same time. There were no riots there, but the Ying Yang Twins arrived pretty much on time. I guess DMX didn't get the whole memo that campus rules are that these shows MUST END at 9:30.
Plus, this week is little 500 the bike race. Best college weekend anywhere, ever.
I was at the DMX concert and the macing was ridiculous. But still DMX was still freaking sweet. People keep saying a guy in a wheelchair got maced. If that's true, that's effed up. Still, a night to remember! How I love IU

I remember when you could afford a good concert I don't know why you knock it, everything used to be so much cheaper!! Which was a good thing esp. for concert. Who wants to pay 60 dollars for tickets! Dave used to be 25 bucks in the day too!! I don't see why you think so less of people, they still have gigs. Not as many people are interested in the big bucks shows!
I go to IU and have to say I laughed when I heard people were going to see DMX…you probably deserved to get maced for making the worst decision ever to go to his concert

I'm friends with a bunch of guys in Lambda Chi and they sent a car to pick him up at like 8 (concert was at 8:30) and he wouldn't get in the car because he wanted a black SUV. What the fuccccck. So, then the guys found a black SUV, and then he wouldn't get in THAT because it wasn't leather interior.
That's why he was so fucking late, because they couldn't find his perfect car.

Getting maced at a DMX concert is almost as tragic as dying in a fire at a Great White concert. The both blow goat balls. I can understand the police though…….I'm sure the crowd was mostly black. They are so stupid, that when they riot they burn their own houses down.
25 is not cheap for a college show…thats about right…not all concert tickets have to be over 100 dollars. it was a college show..stupids!
I go to IU and while I'm not a DMX fan and didn't go to the concert, a kid in my french class is in the frat and was the one who drove him back to his hotel after the 'concert'…he said DMX went psycho in the car and started hitting everything, almost breaking a window. He then smacked the girl he was with…then started crying. lame.
I was at the show! For the 3 of 4 songs he put on, it was awesome!!! He jumped on some speakers and did Ruff Ryders Anthem. He's a great live performer. Unfortunately, Bloomington Noise Ordinance on a weekday is only up until 9:30PM. Nothing IU or Lambda Chi Alpha could have done to extend the performance. I guess they had transportation problems getting him from his hotel to the show which was why he was so late. Great show though! Well worth it!
First off, if the students had not gotten out of hand which we all know college students do, then they would not have been maced in the first place. I work for IU and can not believe that common sense 101 is not a required course for most students.

I was there…I barely escaped the mace. I think the very large handle of henessey that dmx decided to pass around to the audience added to the chaos. When the police interupted the concert to explain to dmx why he had to leave, he replied, "I don't give a fuck! I'm not leavin' till they cut off the fucking mic!" That is when things got wild. dmx baby!
Sounds about like the time Nelly came to IU and played 3 songs and left. The opening act was the washed up guy from Naughty by Nature.
BTW April G, IU is not a small town and has plenty of big name concerts that are not cheap.

Umm I was there but trying to bake cookies in a bakery next door. It was a mess. Really wierd. I even saw a pick up truck full of Popo just grabbing kids right and left. The mace was the most effed up part.
Me and my girls went to the concert. The mace was totalllllly uncalled for. There were no legitimate reasons to even use such a brutal act towards an UNROWDY crowd. Something is missing from this whole scenario. Supposedly there was a warrant out for DMX, he also passed out alcohol in the crowd were many students were underage…who the hell knows but I was pissed. Little 500 week always gets big (or at least semi-big) name performers. It doesn't really mean DMX has "resorted" to playing at a college frat house. For Bloomington and IU, Little 5 is a big deal. The police here are absolutely ridiculous. They do this kind of stuff all the time.

I was second row at the show and got maced by the officer. After the mic got cut off for a second time DMX tossed his mic in the crowd followed by a bottle of henessy. As the security escorted him off one girl in his entourage got hit with a stick of chap stick while a ball of sorts was tossed on stage in the direction of the police. There were no dangerous objects that were either thrown or hit the officers. Following a chant of "fu#$ the police" students were threatened by one officer with a can of mace. the audience stopped yelling and some people in the back began to file out. A few moments following the crowds simmering down the officer let loose a general spray of mace upon the audience striking a large number of students, myself included. The students then ran out of the property onto the street. At no point was anyone on stage or were the officers in imminent physical danger. IU police panicked and will face serious inquisition regarding how it was handled. Yes mace burns and yes it was worth it.

DMX is cheap because he did a concert for charity?!?!?! and he really didn't do shit wrong, i have no idea what the reason he was late for, but other than that the cops were just shitty and i was in the front row. Two pieces of trash were thrown, not even remotely close to the officer, and he pulled out his mace and told us to get back. GET BACK!?!?!?! theres a thousand fucking people behind us wtf do you think we are man we can't push that shit, he might have let a 1 or 2 second window go by before he unleashed that shit on all of us, one of us being a paraplegic who didn't have the choice like us to cover our mouths and faces….complete bullshit on the officer who did that, you can bet if i had been the guy in the wheel chair he would be shitting his pants due to his suspension that WOULD have came today for that shit…..
all in all the concert was 100% worth it tho, even the little time he was up there (he performed parts of about 5 or 6 songs idk who says 3 i know for sure he played who we be, ruff ryders anthem, one more road to cross, and the professional for sure i even think there was more) but he isn't just one of the greatest rappers but he is an AMAZING entertainer….fuck IU police he was amazing

It was a Little 500 show for the biggest sporting event ever (according to Lance Armstrong). More alcohol is sold in Bloomington (not Bloomfield) this week than any other place in the US on any given week. IT's a huge frigging deal.
Ok, so, I go to IU, and this totally made my day. And regardless of what DMX's reps said, he was the instigator at the event. He showed up, and had a half gallon of Hennessey and was just hitting it like it was nothing. Then he handed it to the crowd and said something along the lines of "sip and pass, sip and pass." The whole thing got out of hand because DMX gave alchy to minors. That's when he was to get escorted off stage, and then people started throwing trash at the cops who in turn maced those on stage right (the left side facing) and it was a cluster fuck from there. The Ying Yang twins were at another fraternity though, and their show kicked ass!
too bad it's bloomington and not bloomfield. leave it to his reps to not know where they were at. just love how a mention of IU on Perez Hilton brings out IU's pride. no one cares about lil' 5 outside of indiana, let's all face it.

Just for clarification, the Bloomington Police Department didn't mace any students. The private security company hired by the fraternity maced the students. Then the police arrived.
I saw one of his shows on long island and its started TWO hours late and he was the last to go on and they shut the power off on him - the audience started throwing chairs at him on stage and he jumped off and started fighting people it was nuts. Hes sucha hasbeen . . .
