It's been reported that Love suffers from bipolar disorder. On Wednesday night, Courtney fanned the flames of mental illness when she was photographed nonchalantly displaying her HUGE plastic baggie of prescription meds, as she was leaving the Groucho Club in London.
She's not even a senior citizen. Does she NEED that many pills?????

bipolar disorder can require what would seem to many of us like a lot of meds… the alternative is often self medication with things like drugs or alcohol. It looks to me like Courtney is really actually trying to pull her shit together and by sitting here calling her a pill popper you are only demonstrating how little is known about mental illness. People need support not ignorance.

Perez, maybe those meds are to help her. She has struggled w/ depression since she was a little girl. That's why she ended up doing drugs. Self medication-very common among sufferers of bi-polar disorder. She has her issues but is a talented woman-did you see her in that movie Trapped? She was awesome! And have you listened to any of her music-some great shit!

Hey, my 8 yr old son with Aspergers takes that much EVERY morning. Sometimes, it's a necessary situation. Of course, we don't carry it around with us when we leave the house…that's just a little *odd*.
Just cuz she has all those prescriptions, doesn't mean she takes all of them every day…if she's going to be away from home, she probably wanted to make sure she had everything with her just in case…..maybe they don't have a rite aid where she is going to be…..lots of people are smart like that

My husband is Bi-Polar and YES IT REQUIRES THAT MANY PILLS… Lithium & Klonepan and valium etc… He has to take so many it wrecks his stomach and he gets sick from it.

OK, not to get all you freaks all riled up but most people that are diagnosed as bi-polar are just depressed. All of them are mostly on medi-cal or medi-caid which pays for about oh I dunno sometimes 2 to 3 thousand worth of drugs a MONTH, and thats not counting the oxy and vicodin that their "doctor" presribes for their "pain" and that is all on our tax dollar! Well, I gotta go to work now…………………………….

What a ginormous bag 'o drugs. Does she have any concern about her daughter becoming an orphan? 'Cause if these drugs are not legit, she should. Poor kid. If Courtney is suffering from mental illness, that is very sad, but the answer is to get into therapy, work on your issues, use meds appropriately under a doctor's care and try to provide the best and most stable life you can for the sake of your family. And normally, people don't tend to carry that quantity of drugs around in a baggie unless they're traveling for an extended period. I hope Courtney is under appropriate care - her daughter is adorable and she's already been through hell in her short life.
And the dirty little secret is that these pills don't help her at all. The only way to healing for her is a total commitment to clean, healthy living.

Hey perez back off those med's could be for anything and being old has nothing to do with how many meds you take. I'm 26 and i take 5 perscription meds everyday for chronic conditions i have. Don't just jump to conclusions.

People with BP take 3-5 different meds on average–sometimes more. It depends on what works. And you should be more supportive when people are seeking help when they need it. Would you rather Courtney shoot heroin? I bet so–better for your site, eh?
Do some research and stop perpetuating the stigma associated with mood disorders. You'd think a gay man would know better–at least show some sensitivity, compassion and intelligence.

Hey–bipolar disorder is a complex and ridiculously difficult disease to treat. It often involves the combination of mood stabilizers, multiple antidepressants, and anti-anxiety medication. I'm ashamed of you, Perez, for continuing the stigma on bipolar disorder.

Please educate yourself. Mental disorders already have so many stigmas attached. When being treated for bipolar disorder the meds can cause other symptoms that in turn require another med. You may think that's going too far with meds, but not being medicated for bipolar can be very dangerous indeed, as we've seen with Britney. Please do try to find out about mental illness before posting ignorant comments like this again. People like you perpetuate the myths about mental illness and make it harder for people to come forward with their problems.

I'm bipolar and it does not take that many meds to control it. I'm only on one for bipolar and one for depression. Depression is only a symptom of Bipolar, that's not all bipolar is. you have mood swings with bipolar that is only one other symptom amongst other ones.

My sister is bi-polar, so is my old roommate, and they are usually on at least two non-narcotic substances. I understand being skeptical about Courtney, since she is an addict, and there are many who do use their illness as an excuse to abuse meds, but this could be perfectly legit. Plus, that clear packet is most likely vitamins, it looks almost identical to a dose pack of Dr. Perricone's Weight Management Supplements.
I find it amazingly easy to believe Courtney is certifiably crazy. She should take whatever meds the doctors give her. (Though she is more interesting when staggering down the red carpet throwing liquor bottles at random celebs. I will miss that if she gets better.)

That looks about the right amount of pills for someone who is bipolar. I take a mood stabilizer two anti depressants and I have a sedative that I use if I go up or am not sleeping(which means I'm going up). Bipolar people also generally have more than one thing going on mentally, OCD is a very common one, depression on top of having bipolar depression, ect. So bipolars will be on anywhere from 3 to 12 meds. I'm on fewer because im lucky and the 3 work well for me with little side effects, but most people need a delicate balance of many meds. Which is the big reason Bipolar is so hard to treat.
I have Bipolar Disorder and only take 2 meds, but many people require more, though I have been to BP chat boards and the variety and quantity that some people take is alarming, but at least it's always supervised somehow. Having said that, the incidence of prescription abuse and accidents (goodbye Heath Ledger) is already astounding and growing. There's enough prejudice and ire for people with mental illness as it is. Lay off, Perez.
Re: LAST – Switch that around, most bipolars are misdiagnosed as being just depressed. Not too hard to see why since people usually only get help when they are feeling bad. When your on the upside of bipolar you feel good.

Although Courtney is a little on the unconventional side, you shouldn't assume that she abuses pills just because she has a lot of them. A lot of people with bi-polar disorder take 2 or more types of medication. You also don't even know what the pills are. They could be prescription strength ibuprofen and antibiotics for all you know. My partner is bi-polar and also has fibromyalgia. She keeps all of her prescriptions in a plastic bag just like Court - and using the word "crazy" to describe someone with bi-polar disorder is inappropriate and condescending. You don't know what it's like to be in her head. Don't judge!
