After an ambitious TV campaign to promote her new CD in the U.S., which saw her appearing on Ellen, the Today show, Dancing With the Stars and the Late Late Show…..
Kylie Minogue's X has debuted on the Billboard album charts at #139.
So sad!
The record sold a very very disappointing 5,500 copies.
Oh, well. She'll never make it in America, but the rest of the world (and us too) LOVES Kylie!
P.S. We blame the choice of single on the album's poor first-week performance.
All I See should NOT have been Kylie's first release in America with this album!

AGREED, perez. For once. I have her album, and while I like All I Want, it's NOT a strong first single. Maybe a third single. There so many more heart thumping songs on that album that America would love, but they made such a poor choice. Poor Kylie. I bet she's too nice to fire her people, but it's a major blow. I remember seeing her on Dancing and thinking, WHY did she pick this song? Sad.

She obviously did not do well b/c it was not her best work or did not catch on. Right now, unfortunately, if you want to do well you need to have some sort of record infused with Hip Hop/ R&B. That is what is hot, even though it is getting a little annoying and over played. I can't believe that you actually posted something negative about her. YOU'RE AN IDIOT!
Well of course it flopped. Capitol records gave this album zero priority. It came out in November for Christ's sake, and we're only now getting it?? The true fans imported it back when it FIRST came out. Now, radio stations all but ignored it. iTunes didn't adverstise it. I mean, the list goes on and on. I love Kylie, and I truly feel bad that this album isn't getting the attention it deserves.
I blame it on her constantly sitting on those interview chairs like some fifteen year old. It aint cute Kylie - your pushing 40!

I am a Sydney girl born and bread and I can't stand Kylie. For the first 20 years of my life I was ok with her but now I am so over her. She can't sing to save her life (hence the nickname 'The Singing Budgie') but she is a extremely marketable which is where her strength is, I am happy to admit that. She is just pretty and cute and for some reason the English love her? There are so many other people out there in this world that have done more than she will ever do and all we ever hear is 'I Love Kylie'. When she had cancer and came home to Australia to be cared for, don't get me wrong that whole ordeal must have been devastating, but in Australia we have a massive hospital bed shortage (like most of the world) and when she took over a entire floor of the hospital she was in and left multiple beds sitting there empty, that was the icing on the cake for me. NO DEAL KYLIE! Give up and retire. Bye Bye now.

Why do people think kylie is so popular for? X has not even sold a million copies yet. Body language wasn't even able to shift 2 million - yes fever was successful it was a great album but she is not a massive star like people think. I do like Kylie BUT i think people overestimate her talent and accomplishments. She is basically famous for being famous. She may have more luck if she was a trendsetter rather than a trend follower.
She should have ramped up the image and been true to her roots not try and soften for the boring american market

I admit Kylie performance on DWTS was not impressive however when i was in Australia and went to her concert she performed so well that i would rank her as high as Jt and Robbie williams in the performance stake. She is really entertaining. Kylie you released the wrong song but in my eyes you are a champion. Us americans don't appreciate talent.

The Kylie Minogue publicity machine sure got it wrong this time! She has been extremely successful in Australia and particularly the UK, not so much because of musical talent, but because she has been, until now, expert at reading the market and producing material that sold. She has also been expert at keeping herself in the public eye through the media. America is a very different market, and the strategies she and her advisers chose to use did not work. Her TV appearances were woeful. Her choice of dress did not suit. But the real reason she flopped was that the choice of song was so wrong - repetitive and boring, and Kylie's voice is just not strong enough to make an impact. The American market would have to be the hardest in the world to crack. To make an impact you need something that is outstanding or really different. Maybe breaking into the US market was something she felt she had to do, as she has become almost obsessed with her career since being ill. It must be a great personal disappointment to her, but let's not forget all the success she's had in the past which may not have been truly warranted. I'm no Kylie hater and in fact enjoyed her music in my younger days, but we grow up and move on. Maybe that's what Kylie hasn't done. The pop princess image no longer suits, and the American audience would have been seeing her cold without knowing her musical or personal history. Unfortunately, Ms Minogue has subjected herself to a rather harsh reality check…

She needs to get a better fake left tit. The one she has stuck in there right now doesn't match up to her real right one. You can see it in most of her photos (especially if you compare them to pre-surgery photos).

As a young fag boy in India, I watched Kylie Minogue in her itsy bitsy clothing lip synching to cheesy lyrics and I thought she is poor man's Madonna who would never survive 5 years in the industry, 20 years later she is still around, who would have thought!!!! I think as fags we did our duty propping her up all these years, but lets face it, guys, she is below par singer!! Kylie has sold more than 60M albums worldwide over her career! Not many solo artists have exceeded that. Yet so many of you state: "she was never that popular" - "she sucks" - "she has no talent" - "she's ugly" - etc…… No, what she is, is a BEAUTIFUL/SUCCESSFUL woman. She looks better at 39 than 99.9% of all girls 20yrs her jr. It amazes me how ignorant some people are. I guess it's today's youth! They are so self absorbed, that they think anyone over the age of 25 is irrelevant. Well guess what……. they are relevant!! Just look at concert ticket sales. Re: Jayna – While it is relevant to comment on Kylie Minogue's singing ability, what on earth has the appearance of her breasts got to do with anything? To put you straight, she actually had a lumpectomy which preserves most of the breast tissue, before undergoing chemotherapy. She may have had some reconstruction done, but that is the usual course of treatment. To have been diagnosed with a life threatening illness at such a young age, to have gone through the horrific treatment and come out the other end is an achievement, not just for Kylie Minogue, but anyone. To have a go at her breasts as a means of saying you don't like her music is beyond me. Sure her assault on the American market was less than successful, but stick to the topic.

Capitol screwed it up by releasing the album almost 6 months after the rest of the world, with the same artwork, a mild remix as a bonus track, and poor marketing and distribution to retail stores….many stores only carried a handful or no copies at all! Plus, no video and the single isn't even officially released to radio until next Tuesday.
At least she came over and performed on a few shows and did some proper promo.

There are many entertainers, be they actors, singers, musicians or whatever, who have made it big in markets other than the United States, but not in the US itself. It is no reflection on their talent, but rather the fact that the United States is a different market with its own quirks and preferences. Nor is the United States the centre of the Universe. If you don't make it there, so what?

Kylie had the chance to break the American market with the Fever album. Can't Get You Outta My Head was a worldwide hit. She barely did any promotion and it still got picked up at radio. If she had wanted to do well in the US that would have been the time to put in the work. Foreign artists have to give it 18 months of solid work. Also her subsequent albums have not been as good. She will always be more popular abroad. Same thing with Robbie Williams.

Being an Aussie myself,who flits off to the UK and NYC a lot, I've had a chance to listen to the whole album many times over. I agree with the poor choice of opening single. It's now a case of coulda-woulda-shoulda. HOWEVER, all is not lost. There are other great tracks on the album eg. "Wow" or "Sensitized" or "2 Hearts" or "Heart Beat Rock". No worries mate, she'll be apples!! (Translation from Aussie slang = she'll be fine)
I have also had the CD for many months and it gets better with every listen. WOW and/or IN MY ARMS or even LIKE A DRUG should be released. I know those 3 songs will be on MY summer jam-time songs and if they play their cards right, they both could be bumping off the radio!

I lived in the UK for years and she is amazing! the Album X is fab once you listen to the whole thing. But All I See live was not so good - true. But there are soooo many great songs on the album, I've had it for weeks. All I see on the alubm is great too! I've met Kylie a couple times and seen her in concert twice - she is amazing!!! Wonderful person too.
actually, i blame stores. i looked around my town at all the best buys and targets and walmarts. and no one had it. when i asked best buy they looked it up on their system and they said only 1 out of 8 best buys in my town carried it. i went to that one and they said they hadnt recieved it! i finally found it at a Borders, of all places and it wasnt even in the "NEW RELEASES" section it was just under kylie minogue. so maybe that had alot to do with it!
Kylie Minogue is awesome, but her new album was not marketed well at all. I did even know about it until someone told me. While Madonna, Mimi and Leona Lewis have been marketed a lot, at least to MTV and VH1 viewers.

She waited way too long to release the album in the U.S. By the time it came out, most of us Kylie fans had already bought imports or downloaded the CD. We couldn't wait that long. Not to mention she didn't start promoting it until right before it came out. The single choice wasn't the greatest either.

I did not hear or see ANY ad's for her album!! I heard some WAYYYY back before it was finished….but nothing more. Also, I don't watch any of the shows you listed here; but usually when an album is to be released (Here at least/US) you get to hear a song (or 2) on the radio or online. Also, you hear about it constantly…everywhere (TV/RAdio/ONline/Mag'z, etc). Blame her manager/rep/pr…whomever??
So, that's prob. why the sales were disapointing. Absolutely!
When she came out with the last one? I heard about it everywhere as well as songs being played at clubs/radio..so on… I ran out and bought the cd!
