Planet Out has sold their magazines, Out and The Advocate, to the here! TV network.

They were sold for a paltry $6 million cash.

That's sad!

Let's hope there aren't many layoffs at the mags to follow.

    print media is dying, sadly. i work at a gay video store that sold THE AVOCATE.(or tried to sell) in 5 years the only issues that sold out(25 copies) were the 2 brokeback mountain covers.

    I've noticed alot of blank white space in both of these mags lately…lack of advertisers? I hate to be a shallow homo, but I prefer Out (and Out Traveler) over the Advocate. Out is more fun & "fluffier" while the Advocate is more preachy. I do resent both mags though for rarely putting actual LGBT folks on the cover in favor of "friendly" celebs.

    I worked for PlanetOut.com back in 2001. When GAY.com purchased Planet Out,
    they PHASED OUT over 100 dedicated employees with the exception of 2,
    who were principal. It was DRASTIC! I feel bad for the future hangman.
    There is no difference between GAY or STRAIGHT businesses.
    Buisness is buisiness.
