Gone In WEEKS?????

Tick tock. Tick tock.
As we mentioned yesterday, Katie Couric is pretty much set to leave the anchor desk at CBS by the end of the presidential election cycle.
However, in Friday's New York Times it was revealed that close associates of Couric say she could be leaving within the next two weeks!
That you hear is the sound of the door hitting her on the ass. Hard.
Senior level execs at CBS, of course, denied that claim. We'll just have to sit back and see how all this drama is going to play out, but the NYT is pretty damn reliable!
Oh, and the speculation that Couric will take over for Larry King on CNN in '09? Well, that was disputed in the Times article by a CNN spokeswoman. They will probably extend the old guy's contract!
Good to see that ageism isn't a problem at CNN!

Ageism…seems to be OK to have older men on the air, to convey authority and trustedness. But try finding any older women anywhere, who don't look as if they are no older than their mid-30s, except if they are directly involved in the story? None that come to mind.
Oops, forgot to day, I agree totally with LuvPerez, the NYT is not reliable as a news source. They're more concerned with writing the news to fit their viewpoint, than what journalism has historically done, report events objectively and be fair to all sides.

I've hated her since the Today show. She's ignorant and opinionated - Perez you had a hilarious video up a few months ago which shows how clueless she was about the political candidates. She passes as a talk show host, but not a newsperson. All the other anchors and even people like Barbara Walters are passionate about the news and built their careers interviewing terrorists and reporting from dangerous places. Maybe they should hire Dan Rather back.
