This is messy!!!

Sources very close to the recent Nina Garcia fiasco confirm exclusively to PerezHilton.com that she was indeed fired from her role as Fashion Director at Elle magazine.

Why???

She simply stopped working!

"She became too busy with Project Runway the last year to two," a mag insider tells us. "Nina had been spending about 8 hours a week on average actually in the office and working, and had her 2 assistants doing all of her work for her."

HOWEVER, we're also hearing that Nina may be coming back to Elle!

What, say you? How so????

"The mag - and Project Runway - is looking into the possibility of giving her the silly and totally inconsequential title of 'editor at large" so she can still work on TV," a source tells us. "But the Runway people have been shopping around for a replacement for her for months because they have been anticipating her getting fired."

    The team at ELLE is doing something right, if PIB figures are a tell (see previous post 'It's not just newspapers.') And I suspect circulation figures, especially newsstand, were also strong for the same period, which coincides with the end of the last PR cycle.

    Not all the work is done in the office especially in high profile positions at a fashion magazine. What seems like a glam lifestyle to many — designer dinners, fashion shows, gala functions — is considered work and has value. Also let's not forget, during the '2 years' cited by the 'insider' (read, one who likely wished their job was to get out to attend the aforementioned) Nina had a baby. Motherhood is very important work, isn't it?

    what was she doing on project runway? working/representing ELLE magazine! hello, THAT is considered work. so her schedule got to be too much for her. ask any executive (which is her level), how their schedules can get away from them…THAT is what assistants are for, to help keep their boss on schedule and to make it work, when they can't. hire her another assistant, keep her on the show and if anyone at elle magazine is reading this—i specifically bought a subscription this year because of nina! count the complete benefits before you judge!

    No one will watch Project Runway on Lifetime. Much of its allure is Bravo branding, not just how the show itself is packaged and sold. Besides, Lifetime doesn't even have Golden Girls any more… so who cares about that out-of-touch hack Nina?

    Isn't that what your assistants are supposed to do??? Helloooooooooooo your work! You think up the fabu outcome…tell them how to get there & let them (do the) grunt (work.) At a certain point - especially if you are brilliant - how many hours do you actually need to show up? I AM SOOO SORRY - it's not just defending Nina.     usually, it is alike a 10 year process to become senior anything…years of interning, then years of working your way up from closet person-to assistant–to associate, etc.
