First, Oprah's beloved Cocker Spaniel Sophie passed away late last month.

Now, Martha Stewart's Chow Chow, named Paw Paw, passed away this Sunday, Martha reports on her official blog.

Paw Paw was 12 years old when he passed.

We can't imagine ever losing Teddy!

Paw Paw: I will miss him

As many of you know, my beloved dog, Kublai Khan Paw Paw Chow Chow Chow, was not feeling well in recent weeks and I am very heart-broken to announce his passing last Saturday, April 12, 2008 as he was approaching his 13th year. Paw Paw was a spectacular chow and an even more spectacular dog. He was always my loyal companion, displaying the most agreeable temperament. Paw Paw loved traveling with me and was always a willing model for the camera. In addition to taking part in television commercials and several national print ads, he has been part of numerous photo shoots and is a familiar face on my television show, in my magazine, and on this blog. Paw Paw’s veterinarians, Dr. Thomas Marsh of Fairfield, CT and Dr. Marty Goldstein of South Salem, NY also admired his easy-going nature, and caring for him was never a chore. Even in his final days, Paw Paw just stopped eating and drifted off to deep sleeps, where he now rests peacefully, and, I’m most confident, quite happily. I will miss him, always.

How strange. We had to put down our wonderful labradoodle, Martha, on the same day that Paw Paw died. Martha was only 4 so it was a very difficult decision. No, she wasn't named after Martha Stewart, but now I know she's playing with Paw Paw.

My thoughts are with you Martha. Everyone who has or had a beloved pet knows too well the agony when they leave us. Pets give their humans unconditional love. They dont care if your feeling fat, lost your job or are having a really bad day. What we can do in return is give them a quality life. This you did Martha and Paw Paw knows that.

I know what she is going through I love my Princess the day after christmas it's just like losing a loved one some people don't understand that and think it's funny and stupid but it's so hard when it's you're pet you loved for so long dies. I am still having a hard time and it's been almost 4months now I have made picture frames and got a gold charm of my Princess (picture's on gold) helped a little but still hurts.

This is such awful pain. My toy poodle lived to be 17 1/2, and I still wonder if I could have done something different to prevent her death. I'd had her my entire adulthood, and oh God, I thought I'd die when she did. (P.S., I now have a rescued miniature poodle who is fab.) Life does go on, just in a different form.
