IMO, his performance was AWFUL. The judges are pimpin' him big-time though and want this Daughtry-wanna-be to make it to the finals.

ugh im so tired of that guy, his performances are usually ok but he is such a douche.
There was nothing interesting about his version of this song. It sounded just like all his other versions … slowed down, add string instruments for dramatic effect, and look broodingly into the camera. See: Billy Jean and Hello. Snoozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzze. Overrated.

I thought the performance was AMAZING. I kept wondering who the poor man was… we couldn't figure out if he was a Chemo or AIDS patient. So sad.

this david cook performance is my favorite of all that he has done. well, every performance he has done were great and wonderful but this one is the best in my list of david cook favorites.
I think he was amazing. At first I didn't care for it, now I can't stop listening to it.

I hate American Idol. Never liked it, from the beginning. I think it was the stupid group performances that pissed me off so much. But, I have to say, this performance was awesome. The music was great, and he did a great job giving me the chills watching it, lol.

I actually just want to address the fact that Perez took the higher road and basically rescinded his comments made early about it being a ploy to get sympathy votes. I can imagine how hard it is to try and put your all into American Idol, yet deep down know every second is a second not spent with an ill family member.
Overall he did really well as I like to hear different versions of songs, definately not his best and not the best of the night, but he's doing a good job.

most of you above me are complete idiots and wouldn't recognize artistic talent in a shitstorm. david cook is the best and sings/performs better than 99% of those on the billboard charts. this was amazing!
This performance was terrible. It only got good when he had the back-up singers and the band going full blast.
That's how it always is for the Cookie Monster. His voice is terrible so he just makes an anthem out of everything he sings.
I LOVE David Cook and I vote for him every week. So sad to see his brother is fighting cancer. My heart and prayers go out to the family.

Holy shit. As a HUGE Mariah Carey fan, I don't agree with many people who "attempt" at her songs…but David Cook BLEW ME AWAY. That was amazing. His voice is wonderful and his take on "Always Be My Baby" was brilliant. I truly believe that he is the next American Idol.
I absolutely loved his performance last night, and he is my new favorite. Paula was right, when she said it could be in a movie soundtrack. LOVED IT!!!!

I think the only reason the judges are GooGoo over this guy is because he's a spin-off of Daughtry though not an original and not as good. So they (the judges) have nothing but praise, but Cook 'SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED last-night! So did the 'dreadlock guy only WAY WAY worse! But the show has past it's prime, and it doesn't matter who wins and who looses. The good voices will get record deals, and the Taylor Hicks of the world will fade into obscurity but for the only ones who bought their music were their fans. Too bad those who voted 50-times didn't buy 50-copies of his 'CD. Now if Hicks and Malakar came out with an album together, 'Tweens = lots of sales and lots of money! Wait a minute, because we're talking about the 50-vote scenario again. Forget it:)

By FAR the best performance of the night. I could totally hear that playing on the local rock station and he has been nearly 100% consistent week in and week out. If AI is about finding a star that can land a record deal (and stay on it without being dropped within a year), have their music play on radio stations, have singles be downloaded on iTunes and perhaps win awards then David Cook IS that guy. Golly jeez, aw shucks Archie is not.
I'm in love!!! with this version of the song….I totally agree with Paula, I was thinking I could see that in a movie while he was singing it…I could not get this out of my head last night…I totally preordered it on ITunes…which I thought Idol was silly putting up the songs for sale….now I am so excited to have that on my IPod. My husband and I used to love to listen to "Always Be My Baby" while we were dating. It became our 'song'. I never thought I would like a version other than Mariah Carey's. Last night I was blown away by David's performance. My husband and I were in different rooms and we both went and stood right in front of the tv until he finished. Absolutely AMAZING!
Absolutely amazing. Anyone who did not have a good comment to say needs to learn what good music is. Creative, unique, his own spin on it. Great job, if he doesn't win America shouldn't be allowed to vote. Let the Canadians vote and the right person will win.

As a hater of this shit show (my boyfriend likes it so I suffer through so he'll watch ANTM with me) and it's lame ass performers, I have to admit that David Cook is awesome. I will never buy any of his shit probably, but as far as the competition goes he should very clearly win.

that was most def an original and amazing performance … i usually work on my laptop while the show is on and i don't have a favorite as of yet but … david cook was engaging and i actually had to watch and listen … i got the chills and teary eyed and the only time i get those two is when i hear a great singer .
