Luke MacFarlane is officially 'out' as a gay man. But, this should come as no surprise to readers of PerezHilton.com.
We told you repeatedly about Luke's relationship with closeted Prison Break hottie Wentworth Miller.
MacFarlane also briefly dated Grey's Anatomy's T.R. Knight last year.
He gets around!
Luke, a Canuck, tells Canada's Globe and Mail that it's the upcoming marriage of his gay character in the ABC hit show Brothers & Sisters that inspired him to go public with his sexual orientation.
MacFarlane admits feeling a bit 'terrified' about the public revelation. He says, "I don't know what will happen professionally … that is the fear, but I guess I can't really be concerned about what will happen, because it's my truth."

I think gay actors need to stop hidding, they should just come out! If more of them came out, perhaps there would be less fear about what will happen to their career, the public will be forced to accept their reality.
Movies are all about fantasy, if over the years we have accepted watching gay men/women play the role of straight couples of the big screen, why can't we continue to do that if and when they come out of the closet?
I think it would be a pretty selfless, productive thing for all gay actors/actresses to come out… not even with the label "gay"…just be honest about relationships. It certainly hasn't hurt the reputations of actors past and present who may have had gay relationships (James Dean). You always wonder whether they refuse to do so purely for cash. Or whether it's internalized homophobia, fear of typecasting or a pressure from studios etc… would keanu's box office draw suffer if it's known he's fooled aorund with both sexes?
