No Album Release for a Druggie!

Amy Winehouse's record label, Universal, has given her an ultimatum — quit the drugs or else NO NEW RECORD RELEASE! No new record release = no more money for drugs.
Kudos to them, we say!
The label's European head honcho, Lucian Grainge, made a similar threat earlier this year to get her into rehab after the pics and video surfaced of Wino smoking crack.
Unfortuantely, we've all been watching Amy go back to her old ways recently.
An insider reports that Universal stepped up again to remind her of their deal. They say, "Amy has been reminded of her responsibilities. Unless she is clean she will not be allowed to release another album. She took notice when Lucian talked to her earlier in the year and agreed to go to rehab. But she didn’t take it seriously enough."
We're wondering if Universal's ultimatum will shake Amy straight. We're hopeful, but we wouldn't bet the house on it……especially if Blake gets out of prison soon.
This weekend it was reported that we'd have to wait til 2009 for Winehouse's 3rd album because she scrapped the recent plans to record it in the Bahamas.
We really hope we see that 3rd album! We really hope she's alive to make it and promote it!

The record company must think she's in serious danger because, let's face it, they're looking out for their money, not for Amy. Would Jim Morrison have quit drinking? Amy's a lovely girl and a great singer — when she's straight.

I think that is ridiculous. Amy is an amazing artist, and if she chooses to indulge in drugs, then so be it. I don't think her record company should be threatening her about whether or not she can release music if she does drugs or not. Please people, grow up. She isn't dead yet, so let her make her music so when she dies we have something to remember her by. Right?

What kind of fuckery is this?!! Since when did record companies become the morality police? After all, record companies FOR SURE never EVER gave boatloads of drugs out to their artists at lavish, alcohol drenched parties. Are we really supposed to believe anyone at Universal actually gives a fuck about this kid or are they just protecting their meal ticket? What a fucking joke. It's so wonderful to watch as the music industry slowly unravels. Absolutely brillitant!
This beautiful talent is in so much trouble; I feel for her. However, addicts must ultimately face the fact that they are accountable for their actions and must really believe that they don't want this kind of life any more. Ms. Winehouse has not yet reached that point. Her record company and other handlers are not helping.
They're just slapping her hand every couple of months and then letting her continue her path of self-destruction.
They don't really care about her. They are part of the publicity machine; any publicity, even bad, is better than no publicity at all.
And Ms. Winehouse, like a tunnel-visioned teenager, is doing just enough, pleasin just enough people for just enough time, to get everyone off her back. She is convincing everyone around her that she's going to clean up; then once the pressure's off, she's back to it.
I hope something happens to shock her back into reality and health and continued success.

from People:Amy Winehouse has been hitting the studio to work on some new songs – but not for the newest James Bond film as had been rumored, her rep tells PEOPLE.
"Amy has been in the studio working on songs for her new album with Mark Ronson. Recording for anything else is pure speculation," says her rep.
Indeed, the five-time Grammy winner is teaming up once again with her pal Ronson, who won the Grammy for producer of the year recently.
"She just went into the studio to record with Mark two or three weeks ago. She was writing in her home studio before that," adds the rep.
While no date has been set for the album's release, Winehouse is set to play six festival dates in Europe and the U.K. this summer, kicking off with the Rock in Rio festival in Lisbon, Portugal, in May.
Though the songstress has publicly expressed heartbreak over her husband Blake Fielder-Civil's incarceration on charges of conspiring to pervert the course of justice, a source says, "Amy is doing well without Blake. She is productive." On Winehouse's personal well being and health the insider adds, "She's still working on her rehab … slowly and surely."

the sad things about this situation are:
1) the parents obviously don't care too much for her, otherwise they'd MAKE her go to rehab
2) Her record label shouldn't threaten her by dropping her from the label: they should not pay anymore monies ASAP.
3) She will eventually relapse AGAIN; her "back to black" album has a lot of drug references.
4) She had big tits and now they look like mosquito bites…

Fuck Universal! Do you know how easily she could get scooped up by another label to release her 3rd album? She's won countless awards for her music. What she does in her private life should be her business. It's obviously not affecting sales or the quality of music she puts out. She doesn't have to deal with ultimatums from them, just switch it up on them, girl!

Her voice is amazing. Give some respect to the music she makes. Yeah, she has problems, but her songs are just- wow. The "Back to Black" album was extraordinary. Amy knows it, the whole world knows it. That girl can sing. I hope she gets well and releases a killer album. Again.

I don't think that will hold up in court, number one, and it's not like other labels wouldn't fall at their feet to have someone who just won five Grammys and has unlimited free p.r. & promotion thanks to sites like this. Kinda stupid. They need to just drop her and move on instead of trying to hold her hostage in a way that would probably be construed as a breach of contract.

And if her record label really want to ditch her, I dont think it will create a problem - she earnt enough to start her own label and produce it and take all the money from it - dont think it will hurt her anyway - the only people hurt will be the Universal Islands shareholders, and Lucien cant afford that!
