Hermione from the Harry Potter films, Emma Watson, turned 18 on Tuesday and received the best birthday gift anyone could ever ask for — access to the $20 million fortune she's earned acting in the HP movies.

That little witch won the lottery!

Watson has a good set of parents.

They made her sit through a series of lessons in money management given by Coutts bank (who also advise the Queen of England) in hopes that she'll learn a thing or two and won't blow through all that cash.

How refreshing! Child star parents who are responsible and don't mismanage their kid's earnings!

Wonder what will be her first big purchase with her new money????

Emma's Potter pal, Daniel Radcliffe, is worth an estimated $48 million.

It's sure profitable to be a wizard these days!

She's a normal 18 year old English girl who happens to have worked full time since she was 10 years old and still managed to get all A's in her exams! The closest woman from America to compare her with would be Natalie Portman. I doubt she'll go off the wall. If she doesn't make it in the movie bizz she'll have a good job doing BBC dramas. If I ever have a daughter who turns out to be a cute, talented British actress and stars in a series of blockbuster movies about a secret school for wizards while still retaining her wholesome, grounded, girl-next-door image, that is exactly what I will do.       I believe their parents would have been putting it into a trust fund (which is a bank account they can't access until they are 'of age' - which means that in the US it would be 21 but in England and Australia and so on, its 18). It would have been purely up to the discretion of the parents. You see other examples of young models, for instance, who have all of their earnings availible to them whenever they want as they haven't had this sort of banking arrangement made on their behalf. The good thing about this arragement is the money would be earning high interest because it can't be withdrawn until years later and the kids who eventually get it obviously are old enough to be able to use it hopefully more sensibly. Also: they would appreciate being a relatively normal, unspoilt kid- so that when they finally got their earnings they would know how to live normally and not expect/demand extravagence.
