I doubt Kanye's "music" has all that much to do this what is obviously a big, spectacular concert experience. With enough pyro and dancers, you could stick just about ANYONE in at center stage and it would sound exactly the same. It would be a whole lot better with actual music.

Atleast when it comes to Daft you have good music to go with an awesome show…Kanye on the other hand is missing that quality music bit. the only reason he made a show like this is to bring people in to hear his shitty music otherwise it would have been a bore and not much news at all. I am a HUGE fan and I am turning 30 this year (like you) and I have NEVER (this is embarrasing) NEVER been to a fabulous concert. I mean, I've seen live music before but nothing like this. It would really be the HUGEST thing in the world to me if I could go with you and rock out and then maybe chat about all the things we thought were fabulous, and what wasn't fab??? Just thought I would throw it out there. Maybe that whole 'ask and you shall recieve' thing that worked for Rachael Dratch will work for me.

Beg to differ, I was at his opening night of the glow in the dark tour. Although, I would agree his performance was innovative in terms of hip hop and it was theatrical. I would have to say I was disappointed because it wasn't inspiring. When a show is too overly produced or choreographed it becomes dull. A good concert is about the artist being in the moment and connecting with audience, and Kanye was lacking.
Lupe's perfomance was okay. Rihianna's performance was surprisingly good, she actually sang. She is more talented than one would presume. But N.E.R.D to me took the cake, their performance was raw, organic, and energetic. They connected with the audience and it was simply a sexy performance of musicians getting down with their music. Though, Pharrell made some vulgar comments such as" ladies, say "I'm horny" . But after realizing there were children in the audience, he got back on stage, while they were setting up for Rihianna; and he apologized by stating he found out there was a 5 yr old in the audience and sincerly sorry for saying profanities.
I was at the opening show in seattle on Wednesday… i was in the 8th row back on the floor and i must say… i WAS NOT IMPRESSED… i even left before Mr. West was finished with his set…. n.e.r.d and rihanna made it worth while though!!!

How can you say that he didnt connect with the audience? He was THE ONLY ONE on the stage the whole time, how many performers do you know who do that? And he was up beat and energized through THE WHOLE THING. Did you not see how Sweaty the man was? Or were you sitting up with Jesus (nose bleed section)?He did not have any one or anything on that stage with him. You are obviously not a Kanye Fan or even a hip hop fan for that matter. He promised a show that would be out of this world and I consider him a man of his word because his show was above and beyond that. Every song he did was amazing and he is an awesome performer. No matter what negative people like you say he will still be one of the biggest performers EVER. Look how he came up. He isnt a poser rapper who raps about "Bitches" and "Hos" and "getting Head" and all that other crap some are coming out with, He is real and talks about his life story. All the other so called rappers just make stuff up to sound all "Gangster". People like you are Inspiration. I was also basing my perception of his performance in comparison to the first time I had seen him in 2005 at the Essence Festival-and he was amazing without all the lights, alien dolls, and skits. That performance he truly connected with the audience.

His newest gem: he doesn't want to live life for money, but for his art. Considering he's no artist and all he sings about is how rich he is (or wants to be by becoming a deadbeat dad), I would say we should be blessed with him fading out soon.

OMG i just got back from kanyes concert in sacramento it was AWESOME!!!!! i loved every minute of his show… i didnt like rihannas performance it was pretty cheesy and boring eghhh but OMG it was a good show over all
I just got back from the Sacramento show and it was the BEST show I have seen in a long time. The man went non stop, no resting, no chit chatting in between songs, just a show that was more than worth the money!!!

I am 54, I was at The Key and it was GREAT. His Graduation & Amy Winehouse are my two FAVs of my 10 disc CD player in my car.
The concert was Kanye Kanye Kanye. No backup dancers or singers. Just the man & his music. A good lightshow, and his little spaceship he spoke to/with a bit trying to GO HOME! I loved it, my 19 yr old step-daughter loved it.
My 25 yr ld son, who was killed by a drunk driver in 2004, called it on Kanye when he heard Jesus Walks, making us ALL come up to the office to listen to ALL the words. He had JUST put Jesus Walks on his cell phone message the day before THE CRASH, and I had them play it while his friends passed his casket (which took over an hour). He too was MR COOL, a rapper & music producer. I've been a Kanye fan ever since….

There are 2 issues at stake here. Is Kanye's concert any good? That' subjective, and down to each individual. Has Kanye raised the bar and produced a really innovative concert experience? Anyone who saw Daft Punk's concerts last year will notice what an ABSOLUTE RIP-OFF Kanye has done of their concert. Not only did he sample their track for his song (and blatantly rip off Akira for the video), he's now copied their concert. From stage lighting to the costume outlined in neon-lighting, Daft Punk were doing that a year ago. Why are we praising someone who's songs and concerts heavily use what others have done, and claim him to be an original artist?

If you don't like someone or their music fine but I don't see why people have to bash what they don't even know. It was awesome show wise and music wise. Rihanna, Lupe Fiasco, and N E R D were great too. It was an all around awesome package and well worth the money.

Can you read? Firstly, did I say his show wasn't any good? NO, as clearly stated in the second sentence. Is his show a rip-off of Daft Punk? YES, I have seen portions of Kanye's latest show. As you will notice if you READ my comment, I said from stage lighting to neon costume. What you've tried to intelligently do is base you response on two words within the whole comment "neon costume". And even then your comment is he did rip-off Daft Punk, but at least didn't do the costume rip-off during this concert. I notice you don't mention the stage lighting, so I'm assuming you have seen Daft Punk's Alive tour and do see how that has been ripped off? So your point is he doesn't rip-off everything and therefore should be given some respect?! Are you missing the basic premise that he has blatantly copied Daft Punk? He's used their music for his song, he's used their costume idea for the performance of that song at live shows and on TV, and he's used their stage lighting in his current concert. And, as you will notice from the original article Perez posted, he is highlighting a review of the show which says it is INNOVATIVE, when it is blatantly NOT. the concert was so amazing! I saw you, perez, when you passed right by us. There were so many other celebs there. Its definitely the best show ive been to. Lupe, N.E.R.D, and Rihanna were great. Kanye had a few moments where he forgot his own lyrics but he made it work!
