In the 25 years that she's on top. She made it on there on her own, and she didn't need to marry a record label boss in order to get a contract.

Mariah rules the U.S. and Madonna rules the world. Fact. Both of their last 2 albums sold more or less the same. Mariah sold mostly in the U.S. and Madonna sold mostly outside the U.S. Both are on top of any other woman in the music world. There is no rivalry except in the minds of their fans.

The chart mentioned in the blurb is completely based on sales figures, so in a way it is correct. Her single is selling more, even in the US. Just check with Billboard for actual figures. Billboards Top 100 is not based on sales alone, it is based on a combo of airplay spins. They had to do this because of the recent crash in physical CD sales some time ago.
With regards to writing ones own music, Madonna has written most of her own music, though not completely, she is not Prince, but methinks that is what makes an artist remain relevant. You can't rely on ones self or you don't change musically and she is willing to take in other writers. I personally believe with both divas, they just write the lyrics and hire the others to put the music down. Also, it is so they could get publishing rights. Artists no longer make money on sales, they do thru touring, merchandise and publishing rights.
And I have seen Madonna in person. She looks better in person. And yes, she is wrinkled. No surgery, which I guess is cool. She doesn't look like Cher.
