Ashlee is paranoid, and knows it. The singing wasn't too snappy mainly cause she made it a point to put her voice louder than everyone elses to make it stand out. When she performs, she is uncomfortable, because I stand to believe that she doesn't want a music career. As much as I hate to say anything positve about them, truthfully I think both Simpson girls just want to fade out to obscurity. Sad thing is, their father wants them checks like a typical Texan Tycoon.

Ashley has an original voice (unique and stands out) and the fact that she writes her own music (note) she has some talent. I'm a singer. The beginning of her song was flat and she is singing to low for her voice range so she's straining. Secondly, her microphone was too low and her band sounded tinny. Get a more talented band and new sound engineers. Come on peeps, she needs to be coached in stage presence and vocals. Do not claim to be a star if you cannot perform. In music today we accept mediocrity as great talent. That says a lot about today's half ass music talent. Back in the day, the singers whether new or old got it right the first time on stage and practiced. Ashley needs practice, practice and more practice. She will always be nervous to perform on stage but that should get her adrennaline flowing when she see the crowd and should get siked. What is her true motivation for performing? I think she could be greater than her sister if she would only practice, practice and more practice before she performs.

From your post I was expecting something much worse. Her stage presence is annoying (Asslee, please stop dipping your knees– it also takes you out of camera range when you're on close-up). But it's not too bad. Obviously she had trouble hitting some notes–sounds like she has a cold. But it's not like she had to stretch herself on this song, either. All in all, I give it a 50%. It's just meh.
And I agree with the person above who said let's give Madonna equal time here on 'singing live' — Elton John is right about her. She sucks! Her voice is terrible and always has been. Talk about one of the first people to make it on no talent! And how did she become famous, you ask? By sheer will and force….and oh yeah, spreading her legs and 'shocking' the world. BFD.

Actually it wasn't that bad. Some of Madonna's and Fergie's live pefrormances were so much worse! Some singers are really good at singing live (Robbie Williams for instance), others like Spice Girls or Ashley Simpson are not, but it doesn't make them bad singers. She has beautiful voice and she writes all the songs herself - you should give her credit for that!

I like this song, I don't know about the performance, I wouldn't say it was awful, it wasn't great, but it certainly wasn't unbearable. Anyone who sings would know if you start flat or two low then take the vocal up a notch, if she sang the song in a slightly higher register it wouldnt have sounded that bad at all.

Her backup singer is frm Making the Band, she worked with Mariah Carey and Justin- so she must be doing well for herself. She has more talent in her pinky toe than Ashlee. Its a shame the industry is all about looks and not talent and then they wonder why sales are decreasing- because people want to listen to talent and not crap!

It wasn't that bad. The performance was only OK. The mix was not very polished and didn't make the vocal fit very well. The audio engineer could have done a much better job. I giver her credit for doing it live. Everyone is so used to hearing over-produced, slick sound -or canned vocals- that when you get something a bit raw, the reaction is that it sounds like shit-when it's just real.

The audience really seemed thrilled by the performance judging by the amount of applause. IMO, that was a bad-to-mediocre performance of a song with no hook or melody (and no enunciation for lyrical enhancement). If Ashlee sang anything besides 'let's get over it' and 'little miss obsessive' I wasn't able to understand the garble. Who buys this?
