On Sunday, Danica Patrick became the first woman to win an Indy Car Race.
She defeated two-time Indy 500 winner and Dancing with the Stars champ Hélio Castroneves by nearly six seconds to take home the first place trophy at the Indy Japan 300.
Patrick covered 200 laps at the 1.52-mile course in one hour, 51 minutes.
Congrats!
Will we see Danica go after the Dancing title, too?

She did win but big deal. The field was less then competitive. She needs to win a major race with a strong field to prove herself. Besides all the credit really should go to her crew chief who won a gas millage competition. She was not fighting it out with other drivers. Six seconds at that speed is like 1/4 a mile. Give her some credit but all she really did was not run out of gas

she didn't win because she out-raced everybody. she won because she was on a different pit strategy… that her crew chief determined. she was in the right place at the right time. if she spent less time promoting herself in sports illustrated & more time practicing, she would have done this a long time ago. it's pathetic how everybody can be talking about her first win… in her 3rd season of racing. i work in a male dominated industry & you don't see me jumping for joy when i accomplish something i've been paid to do.
i have been around indy racing since i was little and she is a bitch. i have met her before and she is not all that great. during the race weekends she is always pouting and throwing tempertantrums. there are women in the indy racing league that are much more talented than her but she gets all of the attention becasue she is so "pretty" but in real life she's not pretty at all

Yay Danica. Such a great accomplishment. She has done really well in the racing well made mostly of, well….guys. I've been following her since the beginning. I have been brought up on Indy and NASCAR since I was a baby.
i've been around racing since i was little too & danica is NOTHING special. she exploits the media, and vise versa. she throws temper tantrums, still makes rookie mistakes, and is just all around not a nice person. i have very very close ties to indy racing & not once has danica ever been remotely nice. her little sister is really great - i've talked to her. & i hear that shes a nice girl but she needs to stop being such a drama queen. & not do the equivalent of doing a peace sign next to the trophy. OY. i want to see sarah fisher with a win - now thats a girl that knows how to drive
