I totally agree, the US has the most fucked up view on weed, for one thing it is not a narcotic, and in no way should be classed as one, because unlike morphine and heroin and other narcotics it is not addictive, you cannot overdose on it, there have been absolutley no studies that have found it to be detrimental to your health. It helps people eat, it calms people down, it gives people the munchies, I mean when was the last time you heard of a couple people going on crime spree when high on weed, if anything it would make you so paranoid that you would never leave the house!
