Reports are surfacing that CNN has agreed to an extension of Larry King's contract.
The live talk show anchor will now stay on through 2010, which will last beyond his 77th birthday.
Poor Katie Couric, she was hoping to get his spot one day!
A current New York Times about Katie's post-CBS future claims, "Couric discussed several things she might do if she left the anchor post, according to the executives, including a daily talk show to be syndicated by CBS, or replacing Larry King in a prime-time position on CNN."
Too bad it won't happen. She'd kill the show with poor ratings anyways!
Although CNN doesn't comment on employee contracts, a spokesperson did say, "Larry is the best there is, he'll be here for a long time."
Let's hope he doesn't die on air!

He should be fired and replaced with someone who will actually research the subject and ask penetrating questions, neither of which he ever does. If the guy is doing his job well, what has his age got to do with it? One thing I've noticed about this site is that it is rife with ageism. screw you, perez, larry king is awesome! that's the only show that has each and every kind of person on it to be interviewed, whether they're famous or not, and he let's them say whatever they damn well please without any agenda or goading that all the other news and entertainment people do. it's the only show that i could watch with my parents and grandparents without any issues, with everyone from billy graham to heidi fleiss. don't ask me to explain why larry king doesn't croak, but he's likable and alive, so i'll have what he's having. go team larry!
I saw him at the second Dodger game. We had great seats near the Dodger dugout and when he left in the 4th inning I said "hi Larry", but I don't think he heard me, but his nice wife was gracious enough to smile and wave to us. I hope he stays on for a loooong time at CNN, he's great!

Larry King is still a great interviewer. He does not have the ego or need to outvolume his guests like the douchebags at Fox News. He simply lets people tell their side of the story and asks questions based on what they say. It is so refreshing to watch after all of today's interviewers are so obsessed with being stars themselves.
