A Latino Billy!

We had the pleasure of seeing Billy Elliot the musical in the West End when we were in London in February and it was absolutely amazing.

The show opens on Broadway this October, and we can't wait to see it again!

And, in a wonderful and surprising casting choice, a Latino has been cast as the young boy from northern England.

Yes, he will have a British accent, but we love that the producers were able to think outside the box!

David Alvarez (center) will play the title role alongside two other rotating Billies, Kiril Kulish (left) and Trent Kowalik (right).

We actually saw Trent as Billy in London and he was fab!

It's kinda insane, all the young actors playing the title role are typically between the ages of 11 and 14 and they've pretty much all been dancing since the age of THREE! And they sing too!

We love it!

Perez is such a musical theater queen!!!!

    Too bad they had to dum down the story for American audiences. That is the delay in production. The show is so smart and brilliant, but in previews Americans didn't "get it" — sad.
