Coming To Broadway

wenn5114863.jpg

Jeremy Piven is set to hit Broadway next season!

The Pivert, who's best known for his role in Entourage, will make his Broadway debut in a revival of Speed-the-Plow.

Pivert will play the role of Bobby Gould, the film producer.  As of yet, no other castings have been announced.

The David Mamet play is notable for being Madonna's first (and last) foray on Broadway.

The play was first produced on Broadway back in 1988 and also featured Joe Mantegna and Ron Silver.

A London revival currently stars Kevin Spacey, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Michelle Kelley.

We'd like to see that one instead!

Another one of David Mamet's plays will also be released next seasoned. It's the revival of American Buffalo and will star John Leguizamo, aka Luigi in the Super Mario film.

We kid, though. Leguizamo has a long history on Broadway.

And, actually, The Pivert's family own an acting school back in Chicago.

Let's hope (for them) he doesn't suck! There are no second takes on Broadway.

I recently worked at the old vic where speed the plow is running in london now, and Kevin Spacey's production was hands down amazing. Now, because of this new American production theirs cant come to broadway for american audiences. this new show will be terrible!

    34. S. says – reply to this

      34

I saw the Speed the Plow performance in London with Kevin Spacey and Jeff Goldblum and it was amazzzzzing. Piv man will not be able to compete with Kevin and Jeff. They were wonderful as Charlie Fox and Bobby Gould, no one in Hollywood will be able to compete with Spacey and Goldblum as those characters, at least not within the next few years.

Dipshit- Jeremy Piven is best known for his role on Ellen and to a lesser extent, the dick-ey Dean Pritchard in Old School.

jeremy piven is hilarious. I live literally next door, on the same street as the Piven Theatre Workshop in evanston, IL. The street has an honorary street name after his dad, Byrne Piven…Theyre kind of a big deal!

      41

Do you secretly lust after this guy or what? You're always giving him crap. Maybe sometimes for good reason, I'll admit that. Nevertheless he is an amazing talent and brings every single role to life! He and Kevin are the best things in Entourage. He dominates every scene! If only Lloyd had more scenes. Love him too.

    44. The Greek Giant says – reply to this

      44

Hello, The Greek Giant here wiping my ass on Jeremy Piven's hair plugs and swatting his buttocks - swat swat swat! - as he flails and cries. He is another impoverished American bum who has no acting roles available and must go to broadway to avert a thorough asshole pummeling by me, The Greek Giant.

You American slags must run across the crosswalks on Thursday morning when I, The Greek Giant, will drive my shiny blue Maseratti very fast to Coffee Bean for a machiatto. If you do not run you will be run down, just like I do to the panhandling bums each day. That is all.

    47. Rob says – reply to this

      47

good for Jeremy, as long as he continues with Entourage though. That show rocks, and his character Ari Gold rules!

    48. Gospel says – reply to this

      48

It's Laura Michell KellY (and not Kelley) who plays the role of Karen at the Old Vic. I saw the show last month and I was blown away by Spacey's and Goldblum's performances.
As I don't know Jeremy Piven, I'll make no comment about him being cast to play Bobby Gould. I only can predict that it will be hard to match Jeff Goldblum…

Crazy. I saw a production of Speed The Plow in San Francisco a few months ago and my friend and I commented afterwards that we could totally see Jeremy Piven in one of the roles. This show is PERFECT for him!

      53

I'm not going to back up my claim here with anything solid - but I'm PRETTY sure that this won't be Piven's first turn on Broadway….

I was watching Lucus last night and Jeremy Piven was in the movie looking older, larger, and balder than he does today.
