Hey Ya'll be hating. I am one of the original people that went to this camp. IT is the best experience i have ever had. It is a place where i was able to be myself in a world that is messed up and full of hate.
So to all the haters. Learn to except people for who they are. We except you for being straight.

I've been to Camp fYrefly before and it's tons of fun. Unlike most of the people who are commenting that's it's not a worthless cause it is for people like myself. You may be against our lifestyle, but it's who we are and plus we have to deal with your lifestyle that we don't like so much, but we respect what you do even though what you say and do isn't to our, or to be more personal, my liking. The camp exists because not all of society understands our lifestyle very well and some of us come from religious backgrounds or people who are extremely conservative and are against homosexuality. However, people just need to deal with it that we exist, we're queer and we're here to stay just like all of you are. I would laugh if the world was switched around and we were the majority and you would have to be pressured to follow our ideals. Oh boy those poor men lol. Then there would probably be a camp for people coming out of the closet for being straight, but no matter what, we accept you for being straight. After all it's who you are that counts.

i was part of camp last year and i have to admit its the most fun ive ever had
but camp fyrefly needs donations
this is the only camp like it in canada and only 60 youth can join from across the country so many LGBT youth that could use a chance to get to know what the LGBT community is really like dont get to
with a little help from everyone it would be possible to accept more youth from across canada and expand our fyrefly family a little more

This is a youth leadership camp that teaches young people how to interact with each other, be creative, and learn from each other. If we all sent out more love in the world rather than hate, we wouldn't need camps like this. But evidently, stupid people are still breeding and creating homophobes. I spoke at this camp twice and it's a wonderful thing to have in this world, I've seen the participants, GAY or STR8, go on to do huge things for society and themselves. Do some research and find out what's the deal.

Great cause, Perez! I'm straight but I have many gay friends and seeing how they are treated for being who they are, or even when they try and conform to the 'social norm' when they were in the closet, is frightening. Being the object of so much hate and negativity is a terrible thing and from what i've read about this camp, it equipts kids with what they'll need to survive in a world of bigotry. i'm going to make a substantial donation and see if the transgendered society at my university will do the same.
Wow, this is a great photo of one of the most amazing social change activists I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. This beautiful women has inspired so much change! She is a mentor and an amazing example of how we can make a difference in our communities.
Camp Fyre Fly is one of the most inspiring events of my life (and I have had many) I am so proud of everyone involved in this camp.

Change is always uncomfortable at first. The more concerned you are by this camp thingy simply illustrates how far you need to grow. If it makes your blood boil then you need to recognize that you have a lot of growing up to do. Fortunately, there's light at the end of the tunnel — and you will get there one day — maybe not in this lifetime, but you WILL come to accept it — that's a promise.

I attended Camp fYrefly last year and I have to say it was on of the best experiences that I have ever had in my life. As an lgbt member of society being a invisible minority is not always easy and to have a place like this giving kids and young adults the skills to live with such a homophobic society is amazing. I believe that Camp fYrefly is a revolutionary camp and should be given all the respect that it deserves. It helps so many people. The University of Alberta had a great idea and this great idea turned it to so much more, that being Camp fYrefly
