The New Prince Of Late Night

As we've known for a while now, when 2009 comes around, Jay Leno's contract is set to expire and he will be given a "forced retirement". In his place will be Conan O'Brien hosting the Tonight Show on NBC, starting in May '09.
So, who will be replacing O'Brien as host of Late Night??????
Rumor was it might be Jimmy Fallon. And, guess what? Reports are confirming it's true.
Fallon is said to be excited about taking over Conan's position. Duh!
NBC is set to make the formal announcement of Fallon joining the show around mid-May.
How does Carson Daly feel about the snub?????

This is ANCIENT news dude. Jimmy's been under contract for like 3 years since the last time Jay hinted at retiring. He spoke about making money to sit around on Stern like a year and a half ago. Maybe you should stick to Britney's starbucks runs, that's all you can handle.

BAD choice for NBC. Jimmy Fallon is just not funny…he never was on SNL, and his movies have been terrible. He seems to be awkward and annoying when he performs, and I really think that this will prove to be a bad move for NBC. I say he doesn't even make through his first year.

I liked Jimmy Fallon on "Weekend Update" with Tina Fey, but I think he's too lightweight to carry a show on his own. Endless puppy-dog fawning and cracking yourself up can only carry you so far.

Jimmy Fallon, maybe you have more tricks up your sleeve, but I don't yet see you as someone who can carry a show like that. People didn't think Conan was up for the task either, but he did great, and maybe Jimmy can too Carson Daly has a lot of hosting experience but comedy is not his thing. Why force it when there are other things you can do on a late night show?
