It's a good thing Ashlee Simpson has a new project in the works (a baby) because her music career is in the DUMPS!
Ass' new CD, Bittersweet World, released this Tuesday, is only projected to sell between 50,000 to 55,000 copies in its first week.
She's a sweet girl, but….
That is a HUGE disappointment!
To put things into perspective…..
Simpson's last CD, I Am Me, opened to 220,000 its first week back in 2005.
And, her debut album, Autobiography, did 398,000 copies out the gate.
What does this all say?

Wow that's pretty embarassing considering how much she sold for her 1st album. I actually liked her first album which is ultimately the only one i bought. Her style nor her image appeal to me. I liked her with her dark hair cuz she was trying to completely different from all the other artists but now I feel she has molded herself into another one of those poptarts. And this is why i feel her records and her appeal have sunken this bad.

She seems like a sweet girl but her voice is so unbearable, and the way she contorts her face to even get the notes that she can sing out, it is painful to watch her sing live, just being honest.

Sorry but her album is HORRIBLE. Her first one was good the second one was better…now I don't know what the hell she's doing. She lost her direction. It's kind of sad, but not surprising. What's funny is that Bittersweet World is probably the best CD she's put out. I guess promotion was a little tame. Maybe releasing Murder would have been a better choice. You reap what you sow people. Whatever. I like it.

Let's face it…her first two albums were riding the coattails of her sister's fame. Now the whole Jessica/Ashlee thing has run its course. It takes REAL TALENT to keep fans (and non-fans) interested. It is NORMAL for artists to have a decline in record sales between their 1st and 3rd. Even MONSTER albums like Alainis Morrisette had fallen drastically by their 3rd album.
Ash better regroup and get ready for QVC if she wants to keep the cash comin' in…time to start designing clothes or jewelry.

That's sad because it's gotten great reviews actually…and she really has grown into her vocal ability after doing Chicago…the CD is really good, and as posted earlier…CD sales are way down to begin with. She made it to number 1 on itunes though…so what does that show? It's easier to pay for it online and get it instantly than traveling to a store.
