Trapped In A Courtroom

R. Kelly has been fighting those child pornography charges in a Chicago courtroom this month, but the media's not learning much because of the crazy secrecy measures imposed by the judge presiding over the case!

Kelly was charged in 2002 for having sex with and videotaping a 'encounter' with an underaged gal from the Chicago area.

The singer has pleaded not guilty.

The Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune have intervened in the case this week, objecting to secrecy measures imposed by the judge. The newspapers want the judge to release court filings that are under seal, stop closing hearings to the public, and release transcripts to three closed-door hearings held this month.

Another closed-door hearing in case is happening today, Friday.

The judge could likely delay dealing with the news media challenge until May 8, one day before jury selection is to begin.

We hate secrets!

Is R. Kelly trying to work out a deal so he doesn't have to go through a trial?

Well the New York jury has just returned a "not guilty" verdict on the three white police officers who inadvertently killed the wrong black man, Sean Bell, in a police sting at a local raucous night club.
NAACP and all the coloreds are all up in arms. Al Sharpton johnny-on-the-spot-as-usual. Crying, yelling, ANF's, ABF's, ABM's, people fallin-out all over the place, hoopin' & hollerin', all claiming to be victim's who've been wronged.
A perfect micro-sample of the spice of life we will get either for weeks after an Obama defeat, or for 4 years if Obama is elected.

Re: Karla from Canada – Actually, the officers involved in the Sean Bell shooting were not white - 2 were black and 1 was Hispanic. I don't understand why it's a race issue at all. I understand if people don't agree with the verdict but it's extremely doubtful that under the circumstances it had anything to do with race. It more likely has to do with the fact that judges tend to believe police officers and it could cause problems whether political or otherwise for a judge in NYC to not find officers credible.
