A Few Words From Cameron Diaz

Still mourning the death of her father, Emilio, Cameron Diaz skipped out on the press junket for her new film, What Happens In Vegas, this past weekend.

Diaz, however, did send the journos a hand-written note.

It read:

"First of all I want to thank all of you for your support over the years.

So many films, so many weekends discussing films. I was really looking forward to this weekend getting to talk to my friends about a film that I am so proud of.

Due to the loss of my father I have chosen to be with my family this weekend. But it was important for me to convey to all of you how much I love this film. We really did have the best time, most fun and laughs making it. I know that the stories Ashton, Rob [Corddry] and [Director] Tom [Vaughan] share with you will illustrate that point. I was fortunate to work with a group of truly gifted individuals that share the common denominator of a generous heart and wickedly sick sense of humor.

This weekend I am screening What Happens in Vegas for my family. It was a unanimous decision that we all needed to share a good laugh. After all that's why we make films like these. So people can leave behind their worries for a couple of hours. Have a good laugh.

I picture all of your smiles and it makes me happy.

Thank you for your continued support. It is much appreciated.

    Cameron has always been a class act, managing to avoid the star trap and having fun with her career and her relationships.
    Even when things went bad, she's always handled things with a heartfelt graciousness.
    That her exes came to the service speaks volumes.

    Aww bless 'er. I really like her and I think people are being snide when they say mean shit about her looking older. She's a beach girl and the sun has got to her skin. I'm her age and I think I look slightly younger than she does, but you know what I love her for staying so natural. She isn't all botoxic. Especially considering the industry that she's in. She has a great smile and I think she sparkles. She is ever so likeable and down to earth too. A girl you could have a laugh with. That is all.

    I never really liked Cameron but I am sorry for her loss. My father lives far away and I can't afford to go visit him. But atleast she had the money and means to see her father. If she choose not to go see him because of her own selfish reasons than that is for her to have to deal with.

    I cannot believe some of the comments left here. It is very hard to suddenly lose a parent. He was very young and I am sure loved by his family. I, for one, will never forget the 2 am phone call from my Mum about Dad. I threw some clothes on and went immediatly to be by her side. When Mum died I chose not to go and remember her the way I wanted to. It is a very personal thing and to "diss" someone at that time is so inappropriate.
