For a show with so much buzz, practically no one is watching!

Monday night's episode of Gossip Girl scored a 1.9/3 Nielsen rating.

Translation: it sucked ass!

The show finished 5th place in its time slot (a pathetic finish to most industry experts).

What's going on?????

Because if you read the books the show is nothing like the books. It's awful really, I was hoping for something more from this show, but it's just honest crap. The actors and actresses are great, but it's the storyline that blows.

I think it's because the true GG fans are finding that the show is nothing like the Book. They have changed the books story line like crazy. For example Serena Has an older brother in the book not a younger brother. Blair did lose her virginity to Nate not Chuck. Nate never hooked up with Vanessa. and there was no georgina

it's unrealistic, even for the posh upper east side. The people that live there may have that much money but they sure as hell don't act like that. They're classier and not trashy like all the kids on the show. Also none of the characters are likeable. They all have some dark past that makes them so undesireable. Cancel it already!

The demographic this show is aimed at is more likely to watch the show online than on TV, so while the Nielson ratings are awful, the show is still getting a lot of attention elsewhere.

i don't get why it keeps stopping and starting - it's so hard to keep up with! also… i have to admit that i watch it online. illegal, and not supporting the show, i know… but commercials are so annoying. whatev, i'm still a huge fan of Gossip Girl!! i love the accessories and the men are HOT.

I think its the new schedule for the show, I work every Monday night, so I'm not able to watch it as I did when it was on every Wednesday. : / lol.

OMG, it was such a good show! i'm sooooo addicted and i'm totally not in their demo. i'm married and almost 30=OLD! they should shoot for a older audience and the CW should re-air the programs online instead of having to download them from Itunes. So lame that i have to pay now… but at least i'm old enough to have credit cards and an expendable income… not like the target audience who can't pay for the show. that's my 2 cents. hopefully someone will listen!

Because Monday night television is too competitive. It comes on at the same time Dancing With the Stars comes on. People look forward to watching The Hills and The Bachelor on Monday nights as well, and may have forgotten that Gossip Girl switched time slots..

Gossip Girl has an incredibly savvy team of PR reps behind it with strong media relationships. In addition, the show does well in downloads so the traditional TV ratings are a bit useless in gauging its true success.
