Enriquetta Martin is lending a hand as well!
Ricky's particular focus has been fighting human trafficking, and Washington, D.C. residents are getting a special treat. Ricky's going to be opening an office in Washington, so you might see him there often.
At the Inter-American Development Bank, Martin introduced a toll-free hotline for victims to call for help.
Martin said, "Once you have all this information, if you do nothing, it's like allowing it to happen."
There are about 2 million people each year who are coerced into sex slavery or forced labor worldwide. There's about 20,000 or so cases in the U.S.
Ricky adds that through his foundation, The Ricky Martin Foundation, they have saved many lives.

this is for a good cause. i'm glad he's stepping up for this, the stories i've heard are so awful. i can't imagine going through that. hopefully he can help out lots of people, as well as recruit more help due to his celebrity status. Martin is passionately and genuinely devoted to stomping out human trafficking, and has been for years. Human trafficking should anger everyone. It could be you, or yours.
It's not just the women who are harmed by human trafficking, their children suffer as well. I attended a seminar on this topic at a nursing conference and saw photos that will haunt me forever. Little babies are horribly abused at the hands of traffickers. They do not value human life at all. They lure poor women and young girls into countries like the U.S. with promises of good jobs, force them into prostitution and then throw them away when they are no longer useful. Ricky Martin is doing a wonderful thing by trying to help these victims who have no voice.
