Paula Abdul was likely drizunk during her loopy appearance on American Idol yesterday!
According to spies, Paula had a martini with lunch, around 1:00 P.M. Pacific, at Maggiano's.
Idol tapes at 5:00 P.M. L.A. time.
Abdul was "bubbly" when she left the restaurant and had to have an assistant shut her up.
Paula must be a lightweight…or she probably had more than one 'tini!

I'm no studio head or network exec - but I do know that Idol never tapes anything in the order of its broadcast. It also plugs in pre-recorded segments all the time.
My guess - Paula was commenting on a song that hadn't been seen by the TV audience yet. But it most certainly had been sung.

That doesn't seem right… our bodies get rid of alcohol at a rate of 2 oz per hour meaning that she would've had to have had EIGHT martinis at lunch… which even the best of us heavyweights probably wouldn't be able to handle… she would've been too sick/passed out to do the show. She was on the radio here in ATL this morning and she said that they (the judges) were told that they would give their critiques after the 2nd song. And I guess she said they were talking between themselves and all of a sudden the producers changed their minds and told Ryan to get the judges opinions after the 1st song. So when it came to Pauls she got confused because she thought that she was only supposed to talk after the 2nd song so she was reading her notes from the rehersal because I guess she thought she had missed his 2nd song. From the way she described it, the whole night was all kinds of confusing due to the producers.
I'm with #1. I THINK she's on Ambien or some pain killers. Any self-respecting addict would hardly limit themselves to a Martini.

According to Paula, she doesn't take painkillers, even though she has had something like 12 back surgerys or something. At least at this time she's not taking anything. And she said she's never been drunk. She seemed like she was telling the truth….
I think she's just kind of airheaded. Because she's supposed to call in to the radio station here every THUSDAY at 9:30am and today she called in at 9:30am, so I think she got the days or the stations confused because she called on the wrong day. She talked for like an hour almost I think and then they asked her if she was still going to call back tomorrow since that's her normal scheduled day, and she was like "oh, yeah, I'll still call tomorrow"
Then, like 3 minutes later she called back and they answered and she was like "oh, wait, I just talked to you, I'm not suppsed to call you till tomorrow." I'm sure it was an easy mistake to make because I'm sure she calls alot of stations and probley just dialed the wrong# but it was hillarious!

i am not a paula fan… i don't hate her either…so take this the way it's meant. I like to have my occasional martini & i DON'T get wasted on one…but both times i have been to maggiano's i was TRASHED on one cosmo. That NEVER happens to me any where else I go. I was so glad that my husband was with me the 1st time because i would not have been able to drive home. The second time i knew better & only had a few sips i told them not to make it strong but the did any way. So I am just saying. I can see where that could happen.

Paula announced a few years ago that she had a chronic pain disease called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). My mother has RSD also and cannot even get out of bed without meds, let alone walk around unassisted. It is a truly horrifying disease and I think it is admirable of Paula to keep on keepin' on for as long as her body will allow, so be nice!
Although she really should just admit that she's on prescribed meds for her condition so that maybe the catty bitches will control themselves…
