Oscar winner Javier Bardem has dropped out of the Weinstein Company's movie musical Nine.
Bardem was supposed to play the lead role, Guido Contini — a film director who experiences personal and creative crisis trying to balance all the women in his life.
His reps say Bardem loved the script abut pulled out because he is exhausted from work and awards season and will take as long as a year to recharge his batteries.
Is he going to rehab????
Javier's girlfriend, Penelope Cruz, and screen legend Sophia Loren are still confirmed to star in the pic.
He must be real tired to walk away from working with these ladies!
Regardless, Javier won an Oscar. He should take as long as he needs to get back into the swing of things! Too bad his career may be cursed, like Gwyneth's, by next year!

This is a GREAT IDEA for Javier to back out…this is a remake of the classic Fellini film "8 1/2" and if you know anything about film history, its up their with Gone with the Wind, Godfather, Citzen Kane, etc as one of the greatest films ever. Why repaint a Picasso? It is smart for him to leave, and dumb for the Weinsteins to still wanting to do it. If Javier stayed it would have been just like what Gus Van Sandts Psycho did for his career in 98..yeah exactly..Viva Javier

It's absurd that they are remaking "8 1/2." It's one of the greatest films of all time, why would they think they could do it better? It's probably good Javier is getting out of it, you don't mess with perfection.

Marion Cotillard is in it to. Is there any news also on Nicole Kidman in it? This bums me out. I can't think of anyone who would be as good as a replacement.
Javier is one of my favorite new actors. He's definitely in it for something beyond fame and fortune, which is more than I can say for alot of these hollywood douchebags!
