Nicole Kidman is set to play 60's English soul sensation Dusty Springfield in a new movie.
The film will chronicle Springfield's rise to fame, her battle with drinking and drugs as well as her bisexual affairs.
Dusty was one of our favorite celesbians!!!!
Screenwriter Michael Cunningham (who wrote the movie that won Nicole an Oscar, The Hours) is writing the Dusty bio-pic.
We're actually looking forward to the flick, even though Nicole Kidman is in it!

Actually he wrote the book that the movie was based on. The screenplay for the movie, which isn't half as good as the book, was written by David Hare. Looking forward to the movie though.

I LOVE Dusty Springfield, but Nicole Kidman is not the right woman to play her. Kristen Chenoweth would have been much better. Also, this may sound crazy, but I think Britney Spears could have ROCKED that role.

P.S. Michael Cunningham wrote the Novel which was in due course turned into the film adaptation of the same title (The Hours). He did not write the screenplay. David Hare was entrusted to write the screenplay. Thought I'd let you know.

I saw a musical about Dusty Springfield's life a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. The lead obviously had to sing in Dusty's style and really did her credit. Somehow, the bland Ms Kidman doesn't seem right to play a woman who led a life filled with so much passion. Maybe producers think her name will bring the audiences in, but she has made so many mediocre movies lately that even that would be a risk.
