3 years ago our then 7 year old son was diagnosed with Leukemia(ALL type). He had but days to live; he had next to no BP and his hemoglobin and platelets were so low he should have already been dead. It was a miracle. Now after 3 years of chemo, he's in remission. It was a long, hard, and frightening road and every parent's worst nightmare to hear the chilling words "It's cancer." By the grace of God we made it thru(and hope and pray daily he doesn;'t relapse, which will always be a dark cloud looming over us) and I want to thank all the generous people who donate to the Canadian Cancer Society and to the Children's Wish Foundation who gave him his Wish trip to California. God bless you all for your prayers and generosity!! It means so much.

folks - also, write your congressman — tell them to stop spending your money on this stupid, fake war — and to allocate the cash to medical research.

The more the private sector continues to picks up the tab, the less the congress will be obliged to help.

My aunt died of Leukemia and One of the girls from my highschool just died from it two weeks ago. PLEASE DONATE!

  18. #18 - anon says – reply to this

This is an excellent cause. More attention needs to be given to blood cancers, especially because there is such an easy way to save a life: JOIN MARROW.ORG NOW AND HELP SAVE A LIFE. It is unbelievable to think that simply donating stem cells can save a blood cancer patient's life and more people are not registered. It is so easy. PLEASE BECOME A DONOR TODAY. My brother has leukemia, and when we looked for a donor, we couldn't find a match. Thankfully, he is doing well with chemo treatment, but if he ever needs a transplant, we need more donors. THANKS!!

My Mom died of Multiple Myeloma, a blood-born cancer. It was a long, painful, and heart wrenching 7 year struggle. I would not wish a blood-born cancer on my worst enemy. If you have any heart, donate, and help eradicate these terrible diseases once and for all… Thanks Perez!

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this on ur page. today is my 3 year anniversary of being diagnosed with leukemia(apl), thank god i was in remission three months later and have been since, but i know alot of young people read your website and hopefully they will read up on it and make a donation. I was diagnosed at 24 and now I am 27, and I try to donate when I can because when I was sick alot of people helped me, and I want to give back unfortunately I can't give back as much as I would like. But again Thank You for putting this on your page!!!

I am a candidate for Woman of the Year for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and we are just concluding an awesome 8 week campaign in Richmond, VA.

This organization does wonderful things for the patients and I thank you, Perez for getting the word out.

It is the leading disease killer of children under the age of 20. Please help us help the youngest victims - life offers many battles, but this one we can fight together!

    Thank you, again!

    Best regards,
    Krissy

My husband was diagnosed with leukemia in December 1998, he has been in remission since the first bout of chemo. He's one of the lucky ones! Give blood and plasma and get on the bone marrow donor list if you can, it costs nothing in money but it can be the difference between life and death for some people. Anyone on here living in Paris, France should join the walk against leukemia on May 18th!!

    Re: Pogue Mahone

((HUGS)) to you and your son.
3yrs ago my son who was 6 at the time was diagnosed with ALL as well. He is doing great! It was a hard, long and bumpy road, but we have made it and he will be done w/ his chemo as of July 28th! yay! We see the doctors in London, Ontario and just love them and will be very sad to say "goodbye" to people we see on a regular basis. Even though there will be check ups its still hard. But at least we have our son and he is doing well. He is counting down the days until his LAST LP which is on May 27th. Congrats to you & your family for making it through this horrible ordeal. Take care!

Perez… this is a great cause and I do think more ppl should help the Cancer Societies. No CHILD should have to go through this. It was pure hell to watch my child go through all he did. But I am glad he is doing well!

  36. #36 - Pogue Mahone says – reply to this

Re: C – Yes, our son has had a total of 15 blood transfusions(both platelets and red cells) and this would not have been possible without donations.Without the transfusions he would have died from either a heart attack or a brain-bleed as his counts were so low.Even now he still has a heart murmur caused from the dangerously low hemoglobin.
We also had our baby's(now a year old) umbilical cord blood banked just in case he needs a stem cell transplant in the future if he relapses; it's more effective than a bone-marrow transplant, less risk, and always a perfect match.

Donate bone marrow, not money! Bone marrow is the thing that helps!!!!
Corporates just use youre money on their own holidays and cars..believe me i know..

  40. #40 - Kerezcious says – reply to this

So…you can support the cause, but you can make fun of someone who is actually struggling and fighting the disease you claim is "worthwhile"? You called Rich Cronin, a leukemia survivor, a hasbeen and picked on him for online dating…did your ENTIRE career not start through the internet? Come on!!!! Perez, what you don't seem to realize is that you have fans that follow you and your opinions constantly and have been for years. All I can say is that lately….you've gotten a little too high on yourself and it shows in your sloppy work. Pay attention, because I was.
