Humans Are NOT Turkeys!!!!

There was ANOTHER turkey hunting related accident this past weekend!

And, THANK GOD, there's no death to report this time.

A Nampa, Idaho, man named Brent Rose survived after having more than 100 shotgun pellets drilled into his face, neck and back during a turkey hunting trip on Sunday.

Ouch!!!!

Rose recounts that he was within reach of a turkey he had been chasing when he heard someone behind him.

"I turned around and saw the three boys," Rose said.

He tried to whistle to alert the three hunters to his presence, but said his lips were too dry.

"I waived my hand to let them know I was there," he said. "I saw them looking at me, and then boom. I was face down on the ground holding the back of my head and screaming for my life."

The coat Rose had on at the time reportedly saved his life.

Idaho law enforcement hopes hunters learn a lesson from Rose's horrifying experience.

A spokesman said, "Most hunting accidents are caused by not identifying your target. Mistaking a man for a turkey is definitely a case of misidentifying the target. This definitely could have been avoided — make darn sure you know what you're shooting at."

Note to self: stay far, far away from turkey hunting grounds.

Note to YOU: water guns are more fun than real ones!!!!!!!

What is the deal with turkey hunting accidents these days. I just don't understand it no turkey to me can be mistaken for a boy or man, I think these guys are simply stupid and bad hunters who need shooting lessons or something.

I know your gonna flame me.

All you anti gun nuts are absolutely wrong. The problem is not guns. It's stupid people. These idiots are violating all the rules that real hunters use They need to attend an NRA Safety training class. Yes the NRA Does alot more then just politics They have some of the best safety training programs available.

Stupid people with cars kill allot more people then guns. Heck more people slip and accidently drown in bathtubs every year then are accidently killed with guns.

PS. These morons need to be charged with negligent homicide just like like drunk drivers. I'm Pro Gun and I'm sick of people blaming guns. Blame the moron that can't tell a human from a turkey. You don't blame all cars when some moron gets drunk and kills a whole family.

      Think it through folks.

Wow. Wow. I gotta say, I live in a part of the country where there are LOTS of wild turkeys. In all honesty, they really do NOT look, move, sound or act like human beings. They don't. At all. So What's up with all these "mistook my kid/friend/fellow-hunter for a turkey" shizz? Could some of these "hunters" be drinking a little Wild Turkey instead of shootin' 'em? Or maybe there are a bunch of folks out there in the hunting grounds who just don't know WTF they're doing and will shoot anything that moves? Either way - it sux. All we need now is for Dick Cheney to decide to go turkey shooting - in which case, run! Run awa-a-a-a-a-ay!

I can't believe yall are still fighting over this. I am confused tho. So shooting a wild turkey or deer is not okay, but using a sledge hammer and slitting the throats of domesticated cows, pigs, chickens and turkeys is okay? At least the deer and turkey can run away and have a natural fear of humans. The domesticated animals are locked up in pens with people feeding them, so they have no fear of humans.

I'm sure the turkeys are having a good laugh over this and the moron who killed his son because he thought it was a turkey.

      138

      — The title Perez has given this "article" indicates that it's no big deal to shoot a turkey. GUESS WHAT?! It is. Humans shouldn't be hunting ANYTHING… consuming meat (and/or all animal by-products) supports animal cruelty, produces more carbon dioxide emissions than ALL cars, trucks, suvs, ON THE PLANET, as well as is usually contaminated with its own fecal matter and whatever the hell else the whankers who work in factory farms do to the food. For more info, look at Peta's website.

If you have a negative reply to this comment, don't bother. I'm not coming back to defend myself. I don't have to. Watch the videos on PETA's website and they'll speak clearly enough.

poor turkeys! cant people shoot at those carnival thingys? whats wrong with you guys!
people are laughing at this matter in previous comments, but, is it really funny? people shooting at people mistaking them for turkeys? come on. i bet they dont know what a turkey looks like and they were shooting at anything that moved.
also, 3 boys? what the hell are boys doing hunting? and if they were 3, that means 6 eyes and 3 brains, how the hell do they all mistake a human for a turkey?
there is something wrong with this country: guns
how many people die in the streets for this shit? kids taking thier parents guns, gang fights, suicides, hunting… jeezzzz life would be better with guns! and it will take longer for suiciders (made up word??) to look for alternatives to kill them selves.

What the hell? It's not even Turkey season anymore! Guns are not the problem. The person shooting the gun is the problem, so you need to lay off guns dude. You're saying that a gun can automatically shoot itself which is NOT true.
This is what they taught me in elementary school:
Guns are not dangerous, people are dangerous. Meaning if someone is going to hurt you, and they can't find a gun, that's not really going to stop them.

SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU DUMB AMERICANS….Stop trying to justify the need for a 'right to bear arms'. Guns are illegal in our country except for certain people who have licenses. I know that you'll say that criminals will be able to get them on the black market anyway OR criminal don't take notice of laws anyway, however the proof is in the pudding. You're country the 'super power' is slowly imploding..You are killing eachother because of your adherence to long redundant 'right' to protect oneself with a weapon.. Wake up and look around, no other country is having the same issues so frequently.

'GUNS DON'T KILL, PEOPLE DO' is getting old! WHEN GUNS ARE (LARGELY) REMOVED FROM SOCIETY you will no longer have the problems you do. don't you wish you lived in a country where these fucked up accidents DON"T happen? Where children can go to school without fear of someone gunning them down? Where YOU DON'T NEED A GUN to protect yourself and a locked door(or where I live a unlocked door) is enough to keep you safe? If you remove the right to bear arms you will remove the chance of unstable people getting their hands on thses weapons. I am absolutely horrified when i hear stories from your country about young children taking guns to school, people having 'accidents' whilst hunting! PLEASE STOP THIS CRAZINESS AND LOBBY FOR A CHANGE OF YOUR GUN LAWS!!! Why on earth can you not look outward from your own country and model yourself on a socirty where guns are not acceptable?? How do you raise your children in the abysmal state of affairs the U.S is????

Re: Crikey4real??? – HAVE A GO IF YOU LIKE SEPPO…The Commonwealth of Australia was formed 208 years ago, our country was only discovered 228 years ago by the English. We have so much to be proud of. We live without fear of dumb fucks shooting up schools, we ALL vote for our leader (who incidently is not elected because of how much money /contacts they have), we're brave enough to pull our troops out of places they shouldn't be, our education and health system work well, our Prime Minister apologised to our Indigenous people for what has occured in the past, we own passports (50% vs U.S 18 %) and travel overseas (even though it can take up to 24 hours to reach some destinations, and our country is the 6th biggest in the world so we have plenty of places to go to here) to experience other cultures, and AUSTRALIA IS STUNNING.

well maybe you shouldntbe hunting turkeys like this to begin with. This should be a good lesson for hunters like you to learn the cruelty of hunting as a sport. Its not fun when the aim is you. Learn your lesson wise. Turkeys, like any other animals can feel the same pain you can. And you know what although i am glad that you survived, Im also glad you understand the pain you cause when you hunt. The hunter is not the hunted. Doesnt feel so good right, atleast you r back neck and face should know.

Re: Aussie – Well, first..how many Fosters did you drink before your tirade? Second, I can be thankful that you live so far away. Last, you have reduced your opinion of the USA to nothing more than issues that we in the USA are aware of already; yes there are shortcomings in the education system and there is a problem with violence here as well. The reasons for these shortcomings are vastly debated and honestly, there is no one reason. Luckily, we live in a democracy that if we, the people, truly take advantage of it, changes can be made. One more comment, my entire family has passports and we have been abroad many times….but like Australia, the USA is so large, that we could spend the rest of our years traveling here and not feel as though we have missed anything. We know world history too!!! Now, did you notice how I was able to make a few points without resorting to cursing or generalizations? Maybe you are the myopic one…now back to the bush with ya, mate!
