More Free Music!

Filed under: Music Minute > Paul McCartney

macca.jpg

Paul McCartney has announced that he's going to give away his current studio album, Memory Almost Full, in the May 18th edition of the UK's Daily Mail paper.

Paul's album is not new, though. It's already been out for months!

Why give it out now???

Well, Macca's Starbuck's imprint release has sold 100,000 copies to date. But, with the free giveaway the album has a potential to reach up to 2 million homes.

The paper's managing director commented on the deal saying, "If you look at how he came to do the Starbucks' album deal, it was a result of feeling unhappy with the music industry and looking at alternative ways of distribution. I can't think of anyone else who has come up with the right alternative distribution than us."

The UK's so lucky!

We never get anything cool in our US newspapers!

Kind of tired of the free music imitators. The only one who seems to have a sound marketing strategy (on this trend) is Nine Inch Nails.

When are we going to put preasure on the gov't to drill ANWAR and build more refineries? Aren't you little pipsqueeks tired of sitting home because you cant afford gas? It's the liberals fault; they won't allow new drilling in America. You dumb schmucks - keep putting those liberals in office. Get ready for $5 gas; it will be arriving soon to a gas station near you.

    THE defining moment in Rock-n-Roll?
    The second-to-last song on the Beatles album Abbey Road, the aptly titled 'The End', features Ringo's ONLY drum solo, followed by repeated "Love you"s, then what must be the holy trinity of Rock;
First we hear Paul on lead, followed in round-robin style by George's distinctive guitar… Followed by John's blistering lead. This volley of guitars goes through the cycle three times, each Beatle playing his part, followed by a brief staccato on the piano… Then, together, all the Beatles proclaim "And in the end, the love you make is equal to the love you make".

And in that final moment, the world's greatest band comes to an end, leaving the door open for ten thousand bands to follow in their footsteps.

Nothing will ever, EVER top that final act. Nothing.

Re: BrettRe: Brett – ANWAR is a vast wilderness. Drilling would take up a tiny percent of that land which very few have ever scene. The oil pipes will keep the animals warm and they will thrive. Don't F with someone with a 140 I.Q. douche. I'm sure you chew of the lies of your idol Al Gore like it's gospel. What an idiot you must be.

    Dear Perez,

Wow, the two biggest shits in the U.K. are joining forces: the horribly reactionary and conservative "Daily Mail", and that peddler of shite throughout a significant proportion of recorded musical history, Paul "No, seriously, next album I'll have some good lyrics" McCartney (just type in " 'Memory Almost Full' + lyrics" into Google for a fun time).

As for your sales figures, did the album not sell over 1.5 million? I mean, it's Platinum in the U.S., according to McCartney himself. Take a look at Wikipedia also for a breakdown. I can't say I'm sure you've made a mistake (maybe the direct downloads in the stores at Starbucks accounted for 100000), but you need to be clear about these things - it's not good journalism otherwise.

    ^Jodi.

    Alright, here's what you do….

First you buy my electronic coin counter which counts nickels as pennies and alternately counts dimes as dimes, nickels, and pennies so no one don't get suspicious.
You go door to door with an electronic coin counter asking people if they want cash in exchange for the coins for a small percentage….(coinstar charges 10%) so they will jump at the opportunity to get cash for just 4% or 5%

So you're making 5% on their coins, plus you're counting all their dimes and nickels and pennies, and occasionally 10 cent pieces so nothing looks fishy.

This is how you'll get rich people!

email me at the above address to get the ebay link to order the special electronic coin sorter.

    Re: Jill

The pipelines will keep the animals warm? wtf kind of rhetoric is that?
So for the past million years or so the animals have just been waiting around for us to "warm them up" with a huge pipeline?

Even so, your argument is invalid, since the LAST thing Big Oil (and the U.S. gov't) want is to open up the oil fields. For one, that would go against their policies towards their trillionair buddies the Saudies; for two, there's no profit$ in lots of oil for everyone, is there?

But it's OK Jill, I rmember MY first day on the internet… I'm sure with some practice you may eventually present a coherent argument. Keep going Kid!

Obviously the record company can't get rid of all the copies that didn't sell, so they're giving them away. I guess the spin is it's a form of advertising now. Better than carting them off to the nearest rubbish dump. Bet those people who actually paid for one are spitting chips. Mr (oh sorry, Sir) Paul McCartney associating with "The Daily Mail" - if he's not careful he's going to lose his credibility, or what's left of it. The day comes for all of us when we need to retire…

Holy shit Perez, is it possible for you to get ANY story correct???

McCartney's abum has sold nearly 2 Million copies since it's release and is certified Platinum! Hell, it debuted at #3 the day it was released!

Here's a tip Perez: Lay off the cocaine and cock and try spending a little more time getting your facts straight! you Fucking fat ass loser.

Also, it was an OK album, with a few good songs and most, but definitely not all, of the lyrics are good. Worth the money? No. Wish I got it for free.

Paul McCartney is only one of the most important artists of the 20th century, and the level of ignorance on this website is astounding. Oh, and old does not equal crap, crap equals crap. Go back to commenting on the britneys and cyruses, those people are up your alley.
