No One Is Watching TV

Has the writer's strike hurt TV ratings more than expected?

Many of the former top shows have hit their lowest ratings EVEr just in recent weeks. Such as CSI: Miami, The Simpsons, and Grey's Anatomy.

Even reality shows are feeling the decline in viewers, such as American Idol and Deal or No Deal.

ABC prime-time research chief Larry Hyams says, "I'm not convinced people realized their shows were back. It's not like there was a premiere week."

Yeah, okay. Sure.

Whatever you say, Larry!

Maybe people are just watching TV online????

      Who watches live TV anymore?
Get a PVR man…no commercials and you can skip past all the boring parts.
I haven't watched live tv in over a year and never plan to go back.

Why bother watching TV? The freakin' actors will go on strike and just interrupt the rest of the "season" soon anyway.

Hate to say it, but Hollywood is going down in FLAMES!

Damn right…I haven't watched an actual TV set in a very long time…

I Download via bittorrents or watch the legal or illegal streaming sites. Anyway I can get my show. I feel no solidarity to a network or any particular machine that allows me to see my show. I DO feel solidarity to the shows I watch. Find a way to make money off of that, Networks. You guys dug your own grave. Everyone knew this day was coming. It's your fault for not taking the passed few years to COMPLETELY restructure how you make your money. You can no longer DEPEND on broadcast.

no one watches tv anymore because everything is geared toward 12 year old consumer brats.

      119

Canceled the cable…(everyone's doing it) lol why pay for crap TV. If there is something you want to watch… it's online.

I lost all interest in TV during the writer's strike. I think it is going to hurt more than anyone anticipated. Guess it's time to fire those writers. Won't need them if no one is watching tv.

    20. Perezaddict says – reply to this

      120

People were forced to go without new TV for so long so they found other ways to entertain themselves and now that TV is back nobody cares because what they were missing wasn't so good any how!

    21. Perezaddict says – reply to this

      121

Also, when a new series comes on, people start to get interested and then after a few episodes it gets cancelled! Family Guy was once cancelled and now it's huge! When will the networks learn to stop cancelling things after not even giving new shows a chance!!

    22. Kellie says – reply to this

      122

That's because shows like American Idol and Deal or No Deal are terrible wastes of airtime.

    23. shadylady says – reply to this

      123

maybe because GAS and the cost of living is so high, people are forced to WORK more instead of relaxing on the couch in front of the tube.

      130

Maybe we realize that television just sucks. All these shows are the same. How many 'CSI' shows can someone watch? I can only take so many cop and lawyer and doctor shows. And for god's sake, PLEASE no more reality t.v.. If you want reality get out from in front of your television and live your life. Doesn't get more 'real' than that.

    36. henry cloud says – reply to this

      136

Hell, no, I don't watch TV!
I've come to HATE TV because so many shows are similar to one another, and they all suck, so boring. I can't believe people get approvals for the garbage they write. As for PBS……"Public Television" …my butt!! PBS runs the stupidest show like "Carrier" and propaganda shows like Bush (father), where they could show a quality movie everyday at prime time, and another, right afterwards. Or one of the great British comedy series.
If TV shows were not bad enough, Network channels are full of medication commercials, colon cleanser infomercials and the rest of these appetizing crappy creations.
I canceled my cable, so I pay the lowest possible every month, and just use the TV box to view movies from Hollywood video. Enough!

Those overpaid idiots that run the studios picked a fight with the writers over nothing really, and got their asses handed to them by the audience. The only thing tv has going for it is that it is reliable. But the idiots that run the studios (who wouldn't sit down and watch their own programs at air time if you paid them) didn't realize that if tv programming isn't reliable, the audience will simply move on and do something else. Its not like there aren't a million other things to do.

I know what it is. Americans are sooo upset with the gas prices being so frickin' high that it has made them isolated from everything else. The economy,as we know it, is SHIT! People losing work and being laid off. Times are hard.

Been playing GTA IV. Fuck TV. When I get to enact my fantasies of killing as many cops as possible, it's better than anything TV can offer. Plus free porn on sites like 4chan is the bomb.

chron, pr0n, girls, music, partying, and some ultra violence is a much better release than watching Seinfeld reruns or getting lost in the plot development of some TV show that I missed the past 6 episodes of.

Maybe some science geekery from time to time.
