According to reports, Gossip Girl is going to have an extra long season next year to make up for the episodes missed due to the writer's strike.
The CW is set to make a formal announcement about the extra long season (24 episodes!) at its big upfront event next week.
Additionally, Michelle Trachtenberg is expected to become a full-time cast member on GG!
Y'all can also expect to see Hamptons-based episodes of Gossip Girl.
Um…we will also get to see Fire Island through the eyes of Serena's little bro, Eric?

its one of the top downloaded shows on itunes. just because it doesnt have high ratings doesnt mean its not a money maker. they are just focusing on their demographic. we are a generation who watches television on our computers, ipods, and even cell phones. obviously they realized this.

Dude, Nielsen ratings are for old people. Don't include Tivos, don't include online watching, don't include iTunes. So if the shows demographic isn't old people (and Gossip Girl's definitely isn't), then the Nielsens miss all of their main viewers.

ok, you haters really need to shut the hell up. michelle's character is very dark and twisted and there aren't a lot of characters on tv that are as evil as georgina is, so for you twelve year olds that are dead-set on the dan/serena plotline need to get over it. relationships for tv can't stay 'perfect' for too long because they get boring, which was exactly what was happening here. i am happy to see michelle added to the cast because she is a very accomplished young actress and she does bring a darker take in personality to the show, which is something that makes gossip girl more interesting. furthermore, michelle gets along great with the rest of the cast, and that is probably one thing the producers look for in a big step to make a guest star a regular. look what happened to mischa in the oc? so yeah, people are just going to have to get over the fact that michelle very well may be staying and for those who say they 'won't watch the show' or 'let's get a petition' just shows your lack loyalty to the show over one person and their character they play wonderfully.
