A source close to Katherine Heigl reveals that the actress wants out of her Grey's Anatomy contract.
The insider says, “She's working really long hours and is ready to move on.”
Heigl doesn't really 'need' Grey's anymore, right? She has proven that she's a movie star. Hiegl-fronted flicks Knocked Up and 27 Dresses were box office gold.
A movie industry expert is quoted as saying, “She’s a smart one. She saw what can happen with someone like Jennifer Aniston, who was crazy successful on TV, but can’t seem to carry a film, and she tested the waters early.”
Unfortunately, Heigl probably won't get what she wants says the source — she's locked in to her Grey's contract.
We assume they're right! ABC and its parent company, Disney, aren't the kind of people who'll let a cash cow walk away so easily!

BIG BIG MISTAKE. Two movies targeted toward teenagers and 20-somethings don't a movie star make. The smart ones finish their TV series FIRST. No point in alienating those who helped your career.

that show is pretty boring whether she is on the show or not. i say let her do what she wants to do. she's good but she's not great so i don't see what the big fuss is.
The producers and writers of the show do not use her talent or her character properly. I don't blame her for wanting to move on. It's the same as for anyone who is unsatisfied in their working situation. If unhappy with the job duties, you seek other opportunities, no different. That particular show is quite a mess and her material to work would be frustrating to do. It's silly. She hasn't had a truly well written part since her season two story line. Use her properly or let he move on.

Let her go!….she's a terrible actress!
Heigl's character is the most annoying on Grey's (not necessarily her fault), she was horrible as an Oscar presenter (it really shouldn't have been all about her), she bashed Knocked Up (when, as a married woman with kids, I could definitely recognize and empathize with Leslie Mann's character), and 27 Dresses looked like it was a horrible movie. Is it possible that Grey's is tiring of her and this is how she's choosing to promote it? Certainly, there are enough female characters without her, especially with the addition of Brooke Smith.
On the other hand, since the show has been abysmal lately, she could be smart to try to get away. (I didn't see last week's, and all the press suggests it's going to get better by the end of the season–I couldn't tell that from the episode two weeks ago.)
Heh. I've seen that movie before! Something wrong with making it big on a smash TV show that pays big? Puhleeeeze. She doesn't have a very good manager if he/she is encouraging that move. I mean, I like her okay, but it's a big gamble in my opinion. History, my girl.

I agree with you completely! The show has gone downhill and the storylines are so far-fetched and ridiculous. Heigl's Lizzie is the worst character of them all-so annoying! She just really overdoes Lizzie's kookiness. I know she is just reading the lines she's given, but honestly, what doctors act like that?

I was hoping this would be one actress who would stay grounded. No such luck. Whatever success the movies she's been in have had (and it's really not that much) had little if anything to do with her. The 2 movies Perez mentions were advertised for months before it opened - all over t.v. Point is - you could have stuck Paris Hilton in those movies and they would have had the same success.
Those movies were awful….at least Jennifer has residuals. That crappy TV show will be forgotten in no time. Friends is a classic.
Here the dumb celebrities go again! David Caruso wanted out his contract on NYPD Blue and so did Gary Burghoff on MASH. They wanted to go on to do the big screen and look where they ended up! I know Caruso ended up on CSI Miami, but it was many years between gigs.

No surprise. This girl is a diva, which is disappointing. I was on the set of her movie, which is now filming called The Ugly Truth. She sat there in the shade letting crew members hold umbrellas over her like servants when there was no sun anywhere near her. It was RIDICULOUS. I felt so sorry for the crew standing there with their arm muscles probably burning from holding an umbrella over her while she yapped away. I never saw her talk to any crew members or get anything for herself. She clearly thinks she is a big deal. I saw Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, but after watching her on set I certainly won't spending anymore money to see her. Hollywood needs a new Julia Roberts. It's a shame that these average, awkward types like her are getting leading roles because they can't find anyone else better.

I love Katherine Heigl, she did a great job in 27 dresses and knocked up. If she leaves Greys, I will probably cry. Its my absolute favorite show of all time. So I really hope she decides to keep making movies AND stays on Greys.
