David Archuleta's overbearing stage father has been banned from American Idol.
The dad from hell will still be allowed to sit in the audiences during taping days, but that's it. He won't be allowed backstage or at rehearsals.
Producers are said to be fed up with Jeff Archuleta's shady ways, and other contestants were reportedly creeped out by him.
Let's hope David's dad is just like Joe Simpson and not Joe Jackson!

I haven't even be watching Idol this season, but I hate when parents of young stars (or in this case…wanna be stars) are overbearing assholes. Hello?? You should be grateful that your kid has any talent at all. Let the poor kid go after his dream and have fun. Why do parents need to push thier kids so hard. Just be supportive and loving…thats all they need. Not some pompous (did I spell that right?) asshole telling them that they are not doing things right. David is adorable and I'm sure the dad will be the first one not to "let" David come out of the closet. Its obvious he cringes when girls scream for him. I met david at a little event and he was mighty friendly. I wish he would turn 18 and I can be his boyfriend. He needs someone to protect him in Hollywood and not his asshole father…. David deserves to sing and act on his own will, not his crazy fathers!!
FYI, since it's coming towards the end of the American Idol competition, all family and/or vocal coaches are banned from being backstage while the wannabe idols practice and prepare for the shows. So Jeff is technically banned but he's not the only one. The media is simply singling him out and you are contributing to that.
I cant fucking stand this kid. His dad is a dick who looks like a child molester and is just a fucktard. I hope this dick loses like he did on star search. He ISNT THAT GOOD. And the father should turn AMERICA OFF to the point that NO ONE votes for him.
Why the hell should Archuleta have the benefit of a full-time musician doing all of his musical arrangements for him? Did you know that Jeff Archuleta owns a talent company and specializes in training contestants in talent competitions on how to win? Did you know that he chooses all of David's songs, and works with him non-stop during rehearsals?
There are plenty of other idol contestants who would have benefited from help like that, but only David was allowed because he is a minor. To me, if you're old enough to compete in AI, you should be able to do this stuff yourself. If David legally needs a guardian with him, that person should just stand aside and keep quiet. American Idol sucks.

I feel for this kid. You can tell he obviously is coached by his dad on what to sing and what to say. He never looks genuinely happy to be performing. Maybe once he gets some cash, he can unload the dad. The only thing is, he seems like the type that won't be able to function without his father pulling the strings. I actually hope he wins over David C. David A. is a better match for cheesy idol winner, plus they'll push the dad out. Cook can get a contract but be free. Same goes for Jason, who was amazing imo, but didn't fit the AI mold.

I feel embarassed for David. I don't watch the show, but I can imagine how he feels. My daughter got her picture taken with Jessica Simpson the other night @ Camp Pendleton. Her dad was the one that made sure my daughter & another little boy got their picture taken with her. If not for him, the other people there wouldn't have allowed it.
