Last night's episode of Desperate Housewives kinda caught fans by surprise!
Edie, the trouble making blonde bombshell played by Nicolette Sheridan, packed her bags and rode her convertible off into the sunset without a word about if she would (or would not) ever return.
Rumors of Sheridan's departure have been circulating for weeks, but both ABC and Sheridan's publicist have refused to address the rumors.
A character's end is sooo season finale material.
Edie peaced out in the second to last show of the season! That's why we're so surprised.
However, creator and executive producer Marc Cherry was slightly more forthcoming.
He says, yes, Edie's gone and "won't be back for a few years."
What could that mean?
So, Cherry was then asked if her return in "a few years" could have anything to do with another recent rumor that Desperate Housewives will adopt a "flash-forward" Lost-like narrative device, which could restore Edie's presence on Wisteria Lane sooner than expected.
"I only address one rumor at a time…We'll have to wait until next season and see," Cherry replied.

That was SO shocking! She left so randomly, I kinda wish they let her die when she tried to hang herself … But oh well, I'm actually looking forward to the time jump. It can get things going again!

Love Nicolette Sheridan, but Desperate Housewives has been terrible since the second season! The first season was outstanding, but the writers fucked up their own show.
Who cares what new device they come up with?!
The writers have lost their humor- and that is deadly.
Wisteria Lane will be less engaging without Edie!

The show is becoming more ridiculous as it goes on. I'm getting so sick of it and hardly watch anymore. The story lines just suck.
Re: hammer – Me Too- They left a great ending so we can anticipate the next season- And As far as DHW- I love this show too- Edie really hasnt had a great part in the show in a long time- I look forward to the new seasons of both- but prefer Brothers and Sisters ever since the writers strike

She was the best one in the show, I really enjoyed her good sense of humor, and her sexy look, Desperate housewife is definitely boring this season, i have stopped watchin it for a while, i really will miss her, she was actually the best one, the other are very boring.

you do realize this probably means she'll be back next season right? The end of this season is almost definitely going to end by flashing forward 5 years. Next season won't be coming back in time either, it won't be like LOST. It will stay in the future.
Marcia Cross confirmed a few weeks ago on ellen, that the show is infact is going to go 5 years into the future, so maybe that is what the guy meant when he said she would be back in a few years. And actually part of the season finale will be 5 years into the future as well.
