She was in France (because her husband was employed by the U.S. government) and decided to attend culinary school in France. So, actually I think her entire life story would be quite interesting.

Actually, the wedding shoot was her sister's wedding (played by Jane Lynch)…I was doing background yesterday and both Meryl and Jane were so nice and professional! It was the best experience on set I have ever had. It got really cold towards the end and the crew were grabbing coats in between takes for the extras! And the food was fantastic!

Is it just me or does anyone else realize that the movie is based on a book with the same title? It's about a woman (Julie) that decides to cook every recipe in Julia Childs' art of french cooking book. The book was terrible so I can't imagine a movie with the same premise being any better.
