Shania Twain and her husband, producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, have split.
Their spokesperson Jason Owen released the following in a statement on Thursday:
"Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange, are separating after 14 years of marriage. This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time."
We want more comments!
Why did they split? Adultery? Jealousy? Constant Fighting?
We have a feeling their divorce papers will just say "irreconcilable differences."

This is really sad. They were together for over 15 years (or something like that) and her husband was intensely private (so you can't blame the media) and you just don't like to see parents divorce. So sad.

NOOOOO!!!! I have always loved this woman and have been so touched by her story. I thought their love was built to last forever since they have always seemed so happy together. And after 14 years, who would've thought it would come to the end.
Maybe this is the reason why Shania has been postponing a new CD for years now. She had hoped to have new material out in late 2006, then 2007, then 2008…and her most recent comment was that she was on "permanent sabatical" last month.
I hope she is dealing with this okay…my thoughts and prayers are with her. I will always be on of her biggest fans.

I went to a concert a few years back and she was so gracious to her fans, signing autographs while singing and actually pointing out some girls who had Christmas lights(?) and a big sign that said "Shania, we love you". I wish them both the best and hope that their little kid is ok. Peace.
Gordo, you'll never find out. Mutt is one of the most private individuals in the entertainment business I've known about. A lot of music fans only know him by name. In the last 20 years I've known of him, I've only seen him on one very short interview. That's it. So, unless Shania, or any or anyone on her side says something, the world will never know. Why would I blame Shania's side if something comes out? Because Mutt's side has been very good at keeping him very anonymous.
In any event, this is very sad as I was very happy for them. They seemed to work well together. Hopefully this won't be the end of their collaborations.

Mutt Lange is a very, very private person. Shania, on the other hand, is outgoing, gregarious, and loves people and is not the type of person who necessarily would thrive being squirrelled away in Geneva, Switzerland on some estate, away from her Canadian stomping grounds and family. It's still kind of sad, though.

For all of you that never saw this coming I'll tell you why I did. Shania Twain came from nothing, and her husband had a whole lot of cash. He was able to produce her music for many years and her career grew and so did her bank account. She is set know for life. Smart women are resulant and do what ever they need to have the life they feel they deserve. Good luck to Shania she worked for it.

This is really sad! After 14 years together and practically no media coverage, it seemed like their marriage was perfect. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors though? I hope Shania and Mutt work things out and that their son Eja is alright through this process.
